It took me years to truly enjoy being in the kitchen with my kids. When I hear that sweet little voice asking, "Can I help?" I still sometimes have to resist the urge to reply, "Not right now. I just need to get this done." But as time seems to pass quicker and quicker and suddenly my first baby is in her last year of single digits, I just have to take a deep breath and remember that the memories we make together in the kitchen will be worth the extra time (and mess) that it took to actually get the food on the table. So, let's just embrace it all. The spills, the mishaps. The fighting over whose turn it is to stir. The little fingers sneaking another taste. Let's teach them how to cook as they remind us how to have fun.
