About BLACK IN THE CORE

Welcome to Black in the Core - Embracing the Soul of NYC!

The cultural and historical significance of the Black community in New York City is deeply rooted in neighborhoods such as Harlem, Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, Fort Greene, Jamaica, Queens and areas of the Bronx. They provided fertile ground for the growth of urban Black culture in America that went on to influence the world.

New York is where iconic figures like Langston Hughes, Malcolm X, Billie Holiday and many jazz legends made their mark. “The Big Apple” is a nickname for New York that was popularized by the Black jazz musicians who flocked here in the 1920s. It’s yet another example of the enduring connection between New York City and Black culture.

This is a pro-Black channel; it’s not anti-anybody. I love diversity and it’s one of the main reasons I continue to live in NYC. I value and appreciate every single person that supports this channel, no matter who you are!
