I started out as a 5th grade teacher, then a Franciscan friar, then a social worker, and now I'm in politics as the 46th Ward Alderman in the City of Chicago. My core belief is that we're all on this planet to make it better than when we first arrived, and it starts with a steadfast commitment to the use of compassion toward others, most especially toward our perceived enemies.
