Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Review | Bully Orcs For Spider Mommy

Published 2023-06-21
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is an absolutely incredible experience which also happens to have the second hottest depiction of Shelob ever made, with the number one spot belonging to her on-screen appearance in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003). Put an end to the orc-upation today!

This is an ok game but very “product of its time”. I dislike using the expression that some games “don’t age well” cuz it’s always a snarky way to say “I don’t like X game” but it feels it applies here because this was capitalizing on the Arkham City craze at the time and had it been made today it was would be trend-hopping something completely different. Honestly that’s a shame for me. The LOTR films are some of my favorites so it’s a shame I struggle to find decent games in the middle earth setting outside of one psp rpg I played as a kid that was honestly really fun. Very fire emblem inspired.

I’m about to get the game, I really hope it ends up being as fun as it looks

Its interesting that having finished this game a few years ago, the only thing I remember now is that you 1v1 sauron at the end of the DLC, and the greentext of Tolkien talking about Shelob being a hot goth chick. Might be because you get so many more tools than in Shadow of Mordor. Dying was rare and the nemesis system didn't shine as much.

Holy, I'd just installed the game. Its a great game but I killed all the cool nemesis orcs accidentally and now I'm all alone..

Played the first and found the combat to be a bit slow and clunky, so I had a hard time enjoying it.. Would you say this sequel improves on that?
