  • In my mind as a kid, the graphics in my PS1 were like Redriver2

Driver 2 is really a game ahead of its time, it is incredible that they managed to make an open world of this level on a hardware as limited as the PS1, REDRIVER 2 even looks like a game made for Dreamcast or early life game of the PS2 now

5:34 It's so weird seeing that crash happen so fast, but I guess that's how the developers intended on it happening. In the original PS1 version, the frame rate would chug so hard on every crash that it seemed like slow motion.

This game was so far ahead of its time. Despite being a PS1 title, it managed to become such a gem in so many aspects. It even has bigger maps than GTA 3 and Vice City. I’m getting this game again, I need to beat it.

Havana level still stands tall by artistic standarts. Looks great in high definition.

I always loved the engine sound in this game

I remember this game was like a drunk driving simulator. “The building came out of nowhere officer.”

The realest car physics to this day. Nothing is even close to this. You can even feel the bouncy spring.

I spent my childhood looking for the hidden weapon in that game.

This game just blew my mind as a kid. Loved the peeling out, the cinematic camera angle, and my hub caps always rolling away...

This is basically how a fully 3D GTA would have looked on PS1.
  • @arrowflashbr
Very nice, it's exactly how a PC version of Driver 2 would have looked like, had it been released back in the day. Reminder that Driver 1 has also been ported to PC, running in Windows 98 in DirectX or Glide. The PC version of Driver 1 looks very similar to this, when running in a good 3D accelerated card of that era like a Voodoo 3 or Nvidia TNT2.

I’m surprised this is able to exist, I never thought it was possible. I never understood why it never got a proper PC port in the first place. The game was pretty good but the PS1 just couldn’t cope with it, the frame rates and even worse draw distance made it unplayable once the next gen came along. Im glad it’s finally getting an upgrade.

As a kid, i always thought i could drive on the highway through the entire world...how do i miss those times as a kid.
  • @doctorpoop1446
honestly I sometimes think the driving and physics in this game were more immersive than like GTA V or Watch Dogs
  • This game deserves so much credit for pulling off this kinda game world thats this size in the late 90s and early 2000 with driver 2. Incredible for its time

I'm still wonder, why DRIVER 2 PS1 has gun in his hand on his shadow
