Can I wear a belt for the curls if I do it in the squat rack?
  • @Me7alKing

Will the Powerlifting belt work for me if I don't have a beard ?
  • @jcanpatt
Very informative! Thanks for the tutorial, just what I needed. Esp. the different positioning of the belt for the deadlifts, squats, and power cleans. Intra abdominal pressure information was an added bonus!

I have only got into lifting weights for strength and health for the past 2 years rather than the previous half assed mixture of light bodybuilding, calisthenics or aesthetics type basic exercises I had been doing now and then.  This required me to watch a lot of vids and although these have been a great help and no doubt avoid worse injuries than I have incurred, the 2 videos of yours that I have just watched have helped me identify at least 2 issues that I had not been made aware of from other vids.  Maybe at my earlier lighter weights these issues were not making themselves known but they are now that 300+lbs lifts are here and the advice contained in your vids may just prove invaluable and enable me to move forward and avoid these issues, further mistakes, injury and enable more progress.  Nice one! Thank you for that. For reference, it was the position of the squat bar on the back (I think I was doing a hybrid high and low bar) and the need to use a power lifting belt rather than a hybrid modern type sports shop leather training belt that I think I have. I will now watch more!

I think your videos are great. Thanks for clueing me in as to why I need to invest in a powerlifting style belt! That said, I've seen several vids on knee wraps/ sleeves but would like to hear your thoughts on them in your "how-to" series.Your how to squat was hands down the best squat vid I've seen what with all the mis-informaton and bro-science that unfortunately gets freely handed around . You have inspired me to stay the course with my efforts to fix my mobility issues. Thanks and keep up the good work

Great video. I've tried to watch videos on correct bracing and breathing and this video covers it all much more clearly and succinctly - including how and when to wear a belt!
  • Always enjoy the fact that when I have a question your videos always have clear answers and explanations.
  • @jacksonfev
Thanks for the great and direct info. I noticed the difference immediately. The entire duration of the lift felt solid and I feel I could lift heavier with proper breathing.
  • @MarkEWallace
Thanks for all of your videos, Alan. They are very well done and informative.

As a complete beginner trying to build strength, this is a helpful explanation. I never knew!
  • @MadeInGefle
Thought I didnt have much more to learn about the belt but the fact about it being able to sit too tight on you was something I had not thought of before.. Superb vid as always!
  • @gingerbeef2667
You should be a teacher Alan Thrall!! I love your videos and the detail you go into and how you are just helpful all around man. You helped me figure out that I should have been doing low bar squats the whole time and although I thought wearing a belt was simple and there as nothing to it, this video gave me some great insight!
  • So what your saying is don’t buy the body builder belt from Walmart for $10.99 cuase I’m on my way out the door
  • Just finally got my powerlifting belt broken in, wore it for the first time today, wore it too low, and now I have some MEAN bruises on my hip bones. Wish I had watched this vid sooner. Thanks for the tips, Alan.
