The 2022 Toyota GR86 ($31,490 CAD starting, $27,700 USD starting) and the 2022 Honda Civic Si ($33,750 CAD starting, $27,300 USD starting) have lined up for a drag race at Willow Springs. Both are equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, and have a similar starting price. In this battle of different powertrains, will the lighter and more powerful rear-drive GR86 be able to claim a naturally aspirated victory? Or will the superior torque in the turbocharged front-drive SI be enough to propel it off the line and claim the win? Things don’t always go as planned during an off-the-cuff drag race! I would buy both just for the financial instability
  • @maxwelltolstedt
As I'm still in the break-in period with my GR86, living vicariously through you guys racing it has been a blast.
  • @ShinyOwen
I'm glad there was an explanation of the "evil laugh" noises by James, because I thought he was enjoying his cake. I'd love to put a new GR86 in my garage! Thanks for another enjoyable race.

A race around the circuit would also be very fun to see
  • In the words of Jeremy Clarkson "congratulations, you've proven the most powerful car is also the fastest"
  • @NvSrAgE679
Exactly as expected but a joy to watch regardless.

You know I really enjoy the both of your personalities. Such a joy to watch. You both are very likable people. Then ending was just hilarious. Thank you for testing both of these together.
  • Had to settle for a Civic Sport as I am not paying 5k or 10k over sticker on an Si... and even in the Sport model, I will admit, I take the "slow car fast" seriously. My neighborhood corners have never seen such fury.

I hope you guys don't change the intro for the track stuff, it's honestly pretty great.
  • Need a full comparison. Been waiting for this fwd vs rwd for years! Thanks for a drag at least
  • @Swapp_Shop
Thank you for doing this I have been looking for a video like this for a while
  • When i was car shopping, these were the two cars i wanted. And frankly, i could go either way. If you want the best driving experience outside something like a Porsche Cayman GT4, get the GR86. If you want a near 40 mpg sedan with more than enough Handling & Speed keep you entertained when the wife & kids aren't around, get the Civic Si. P.S since everyone is mad in the comments, i reference the Cayman as i've gotten the chance to experience it in-person.

Great video. Loving the content. You guys are very entertaining, and very funny. Keep up the good work.

IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DO THIS I LOVE YOU GUYS
  • @ScottSchapiro
Important that Willow Springs, CA is at about half a mile of altitude, so the Civic Si actually has a bit of an advantage, being a turbo. So at sea-level, the GR86 would do even better.
  • @one8s7n
The gr86 is beautiful. Nice design on it
  • @VaunShiz
That new motor in the 86 is such a huge leap over the old one
  • @shibaspeed
Looking forward to the new Type R versus the GR Corolla in a drag race and how their lap times compare
