✎ Grab a snack and chew on today's lessons from a man who went from being the 6th of 11 children, growing up in Australia, and sharing a $30 per week apartment to becoming an award-winning actor and being worth close to half a billion dollars. He's Mel Gibson and here's my take on his Top 10 Rules for Success!

In this video, Evan Carmichael delves into the inspiring journey of Mel Gibson, an award-winning actor and filmmaker. Mel shares his top ten rules for success, starting with his first rule: be a sponge. He emphasizes the importance of absorbing knowledge and experiences from everyone around you. Mel describes how he would stay on set, interacting with the crew to learn about various aspects of filmmaking. His curiosity and eagerness to learn played a crucial role in his education and growth in the industry.

Mel's second rule, just start swimming, teaches us to keep moving forward despite challenges. He recounts the overwhelming logistics of film production and stresses the importance of focusing on the immediate tasks rather than getting bogged down by the big picture. Another key lesson, don’t get stuck, highlights the necessity of moving past failures and setbacks. Mel opens up about his struggles with public perception and the importance of maintaining a positive perspective.

The video also covers Mel’s rules on pushing boundaries and getting feedback. He believes that as an artist, it’s vital to challenge norms and make people think. Mel shares anecdotes about working on his films and the invaluable feedback he received from industry experts. This helped him refine his work and achieve better outcomes. The discussion includes his thoughts on survival in Hollywood, creating a great working environment, and the importance of storytelling. Mel’s journey from a challenging childhood in Australia to becoming a successful actor and director is filled with lessons on perseverance, creativity, and continuous learning. Enjoy these insights and get motivated to pursue your dreams with passion and determination!

✎ He moved with his parents to Sydney, Australia, when he was 12 years old. He studied acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art. His roles in the Mad Max series of films and the Lethal Weapon series of films earned him the label of "action hero". Later, Gibson expanded into a variety of acting projects including human dramas such as Hamlet. He produced, directed, and starred in the epic historical drama film Braveheart. He was cast as one of the leads in the critically acclaimed World War I drama Gallipoli. He later directed and produced the financially successful, and controversial, biblical drama film The Passion of the Christ. He received further critical notice for his directorial work on the action-adventure film Apocalypto. After a 10-year hiatus from directing, he returned with the critically praised Hacksaw Ridge, which won two Academy Awards. As a director, he sometimes breaks the tension on set by having his actors perform serious scenes wearing a red clown nose.

Thank You Evan. And while Hacksaw Ridge and Braveheart are certainly great let's not forget about some of the forgotten pictures Mel acted in the eighties like Bird on a Wire, Lethal Weapon which he and Danny just had a fantastic chemistry on set and locations together I thought, and What Women Want, and many more memorable pictures in motion picture history that Mel Gibson was a part of.
