It's a bit sad that Pluto isn't doing as many waves as I'd hoped it would, but I'm so happy Netflix gave the green light for this show. Seeing Astro boy in a Naoki Urasawa artstyle and mystery setting was genius.

Went into this blind not knowing anything about the manga and the just finished watching all the episodes. Every single episode had such emotional depth and passionate storytelling. Nothing but chills.

100% agree. I believed that Pluto anime adaptation even existing would be a miracle, yet we got this incredubly high quality. Damn I am way too happy for this shit.

Cool Fact - the piano melody that we hear in the anime from the North Nr.2 arc came from none other than Naoki Urusawa himself! He already had a melody in his mind when he was drawing the manga panels back then. When it came time to make the anime, he was approached about the song that plays in the arc. Right there he pitched his melody and it was later developed into a full song for the anime. Love to see this level of collaboration. God this anime is so special :’)
  • This series had 5-6 years of development, and people thought that it was canceled a year ago, only for Maruyama to say that it was still in development at the time. They took their time with this and it paid off.

Pluto was given a truly excellent adaptation. Everything was top notch: the animation, the voice acting, presentation, score, pacing, EVERYTHING. I had the pleasure of reading Pluto earlier this year, and it quickly became one of my favorite series because of the conflicts, character dynamics, themes, and mystery, and now being able to see it animated was an absolute joy. Seeing how my buddies react to the twists and turns have been fun for me as well 😂 it’s either third or second favorite anime of the year, it’s competition for me being between Bleach and Vinland Saga 👍

Pluto was nothing sort but a absolute creative and amazing animation about Robots and humans, Hatred, Forgiveness, Indifference, and much more. I couldn't explain you how I felt without having to have a full on conversation, this is one of those series where you can feel humanity through the robots and people alike, please do watch if you haven't!
  • @I.K.Slash.
the dub for pluto had a perfect casting especialy for Geistch
  • I just finished this anime today and I gotta say, this anime is CRIMINALLY underrated. I really love the complexity of each character, especially the robots. Despite being hollow machines, they are evolving in their own way and becoming like their creators: Man. They're incorporating their complexity of emotions and their humanity, and it's executed so well in the show.

As a fan of monster or 20th century boy I have to admit I’ve never read Pluto. However after watching this anime I’m shocked that no one has told me about it. This anime is a goddamn masterpiece. It’s gotta be up there in the top 5 anime of all time. It’s really that fucking good. I’m utterly shocked how good this anime is.

What the series does really well is never showing Pluto in it's entirety. Pluto is always hidden in a typhoon and we only see shadows, silhouettes and sometimes bits of its body and the only time we do see him was at the very end of the series when it's finally revealed who and what Pluto really is. It's very similar to movies like Jaws (1975), Predator (1987), Alien (1979) and The Thing (1982) where they never flat out show the actual creature in order to create suspense and tension throughout the movie. Some may be disappointed that we don't see the fights itself but it doesn't need to and that's exactly what makes Pluto such a compelling thriller. This is basic writing advice that most monster movies fail to understand. It's the ticking clock that makes people nervous and keeps them at the edge not the actual bomb.

This anime has been the passion project of masao muryama for nearly the last decade. It's great to see how well they adapted everything. I've been slowly watching the episodes just to savor it all bit more. It really brings you back to a different era of anime production. And the manga was already such a classic based on a classic. It s a real prestige title
  • I just finished and had to see someone gush over it. Each episode animated so beautifully and gesichts/epsilon both broke my heart

hopefully this will bring more people to get into Urasawa’s stories
  • @Jordunk
10/10 anime. Tezuka's worlds are so iconic and interesting and Urasawa explores overlooked themes perfectly. Makes me want to finally get around to other Urasawa work like 20th century boys or his newest one and rewatch stuff like cyborg 009 or the astro boy anime.
  • This was never short of a masterpiece. Netflix did justice to one of my favourite manga. This year was amazing for anime. Vinldand saga, pluto, heavenly delusions, oshi no ko, and many more.

I think a strong part that helps is that there is tons of carry over on this team from the ppl that worked om Monster(director, chief animation director/character designer, producers, & MANY ep director/storyborders.

A couple of years ago as a teen I stumbled on Pluto on a manga website after looking for Atom: the Beginning and read the segment of North #2. It made a lasting impression on me to this day but at the time due to my A.D.D. I completely forgot about it. When I saw the trailer for the Netflix series coming out the memories of North #2 and the Old Musician came back in an instant and I knew I had to watch it. I loved every minute of it.

I just finished watching PLUTO and it was truly amazing. it is a shame no one in the community talking about this masterpiece 😢
