Carpool Karaoke is a massive hit, but few people know that the original idea was to pick up George Michael (from prison) and get him to sing WHAM! songs.

Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

  • James Corden is like the human equivalent of Winnie the Pooh! He's so adorable and I just want to give him a hug ☺️
  • @doitjamie
This video should be retitled "James Corden explains HUMANITY" 🤔
  • He looks like comfort. Like if you were to sit next to him, he'd let you lay on his shoulder, and he'll stroke your hair until you fell asleep, and you'd wake up covered in a blanket in your bed. Like he's the human equivalent to a cup of chamomile tea.
  • james corden is a beautiful cinnamon roll too good for this world, too pure
  • Wow. He seemed so emotional and genuine. We need more people like him.
  • I came for the carpool karaoke. i left being moved by the idea of humanity's unity
  • wow that was genuine; i have a feeling that this man might turn people who want to build walls into better human beings.
  • @Jojonny17
This got surprisingly deep. Gotta love this guy, we'd all be a better if we had a little bit of Corden in us

"I miss architecture." YES. I know what you mean, James! That's why London is a magical, beautiful, and different city to live in compared to other metropolises like NYC and LA, and I miss it. The Parliament, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the Shard, the Millennium Bridge, the Tower Bridge, the Eye, etc. Plus all the old, old historic buildings, or the ones reconstructed post-war. Just walking along the Thames and taking in the river and the architecture, sigh. And the neighborhoods are distinct and wonderful. And the beautiful museums. Other European metro cities don't compare as cities to live in when you're like me (a New Yorker), they are too small. And that tangential ending speech... I swear he got emotional for real. That's a genuine good guy right there. Love you, James! Can't wait for you to kill it at the Tonys!
  • I now love James Corden even more AND Steve Colbert for acknowledging what an amazing thing James was saying!!!!

R.I.P. George Michael. Can't believe the original idea of carpool karaoke involved him
  • Corden has come a long way - he has definitely exceeded the expectations of so many skeptics.
  • James Corden is the sweetest jelly bean. What a brilliant, beautiful, kind, and sadly rare individual.
