Liquid liner can be a little intimidating, but we think it’s a go-to beauty product that every woman needs in her arsenal. We took Eyeko’s brand new Fat Liquid Eyeliner for a test drive to show how simple it is to get a natural, everyday eye look. The size of the tube enables you to keep a steady grip and the pen style applicator allows for precision, whether it’s for a simple cat eye or a bolder, graphic look.

Beginners: have no fear! In this video, we’ll show you some easy tips and tricks to getting a perfect smooth line, so you never have to fear liquid liner again!

What You Need:

Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner: birch.ly/1MePolJ
Klorane Floral Water Make-up Remover: birch.ly/1MePsC9

Step-by-Step
1. Tip your head slightly back and look down into your mirror.
2. Place your elbow securely on a table or flat surface, then rest your hand on your face (a steady hand equals a smooth line).
3. If you need to, use your other hand to gently pull your eye taut—but avoid tugging!
4. Start your line wherever you feel comfortable—the midpoint and inner corner are both popular options—and place the liner tip as close to your lash line as possible.
5. Use small strokes to draw dashes along the lash line. Applying slightly more pressure will draw a thicker line.
6. Dab the liner to fill in any gaps.
7. Your liner should start thin in the inner corner, and get thicker toward the outer corners.
8. Dip a cotton swab in makeup remover and gently drag along the top of the line to remove any bumps.
And you're finished!

  • You have to stay calm and collected when you do eyeliner.... it can sense your fear 😂
  • Gosh - I'm 24 and have never worn makeup, and had been advised to avoid eyeliner pencils. It took me forever to find a tutorial on liquid liner that wasn't about how to apply winged eyeliner! Thank you!
  • I think I'll try the closed eye method because I dunno how people do it with open eyes.. Mine start blinking uncontrollably
  • I want to break the mirror every time I try to apply eyeliner. I quit! My mom says I'm pretty anyway
  • I'm 22 and I'm still figuring this makeup thing out 🙍
  • @vaniimi
Me: ehhh this should be easy. Im a good artist and draw eyeliner on my characters so often! I WAS WRONG
  • Does anybody else feel like the way their eyelid folds prevents the from doing eyeliner? I might do mine, it appears as though I'm going along my lash line, and it might look fine, but then I open my eyes and the line looks higher and all messed up. It's so frustrating.
  • No matter how hard and how many times I try I just don't get it right. Ends up all messed up lol my eye is black of how many times I've tried
  • Thank you! This was so helpful. I've always been afraid to try liquid eye liner and I cannot use a pencil one because it bothers my eyes. I followed your suggestions and nailed it on the first try! Thank you.
  • Does anyone have that problem when you apply liquid eyeliner and there's a thin strip of skin still showing above your eyelashes? I have no idea why it does it. It might be certain eye shapes or eyelashes. It doesn't happen to the girl in the video, the eyeliner is smooth all the way through and there is no skin shown above her eyelashes
  • Thank you so much for making this video. I know it might seem like common knowledge to some people but I never experimented with make up in high school I was too busy playing sport and so being able to learn like this is really great. I never would have thought of the make up remover.
  • I'm a leftie and applying eyeliner on my left eye is usually a breeze, but when it comes to my right eye, I can never do it right!!
  • @aokikeiru
omg, I thought I am the only one whom struggling just to apply eyeliner. I was giggling too much while reading the comments >< it's sooo hilariously accurate
  • 25 in a few weeks and put on liquid eyeliner for the first time today thanks to this video!
  • Excited to get this product! I have been wanting to try out the whole wing look, but I am do intimidated by it. Thanks Birchbox 😘👍
  • I've tried it on one eye and it was okay but when I start applying it just doesn't seem to apply on a straight line I always end up smudging my eye lid. It looks so easy watching it but actually doing it is hard.
