Australia Should Do More for Ukraine

Australian businessman shocked by what he saw in Ukraine and his country's feeble level of interest and support.
Prominent Australian businessman, investor, and humanitarian, James Baiilieu, recently visited Ukraine for the second time since Russia's full-scale invasion to see first hand where support is most needed. He was shocked by the devastation and suffering that isn't making the news in Australia. He believes that a rich country like Australia, which needs Ukraine to win for its own regional security, has a moral obligation to do more, but notes that it hasn't even reopened its embassy in Kyiv.

'im Australian and I think we should send more help to Ukraine, most Aussies support Ukraine, we have also taken Ukrainian refugees and they are now living in paradise well out of the horrors of Ukraine
  • Totally agree, our response is woeful, step up Australia 🇺🇦🇦🇺🇺🇦🇦🇺🇺🇦🇦🇺
  • Totally agree. Australia should make a security agreement with Ukraine

Yes I am Australian and I wish our government would do more for Ukraine I spoke to one of our politicians and he said the same.
  • I am Australian and I have been writing frequently to Penny Wong and Richard Marles. Recently there was a call for submissions on Australia's support for Ukraine which I also participated in. We can keep writing to our politicians to keep the pressure on and to let them know the voters are paying attention. Ukraine has asked for coal due to threats to their energy but Bill Shorten said due to shipping costs they decided to give 20 million. Ther is still no clear answer why the helicopters won't be donated. I'm not knowledgeable about military equipment so I defer to General Mick Ryan who believes we can provide demining equipment and first aid equipment and vehicles. A quick email every week a month does make a difference. You can follow Penny Wong and keep commenting.

I absolutely agree that Australia should do more to support Ukraine.
  • @Aussie_T
James would be pleased to hear there are many of us online helping since day one still standing with Ukraine
  • I am Australian mother of a Hero of Ukraine, our governments response to Ukraine's plight is a national disgrace. Like Albo's response to my Sons death " he shouldn't have been there". Well unlike our government some people get off their asses and do the best they can. I will be in Ukraine this year doing the best I can, unlike our cowardly ambassador.
  • Bloody good going James -and completely agreed - it's critically important for all of us and the type of world we want to live in. Slava Ukraini

I wish that we would do more to help Ukraine. I think Ukraine will win against the Ruscist imperialist aggression, and more lives will be saved and peace achieved sooner if we provide more support earlier. Ukraine is fighting the good fight against the evil of autocratic violent control. It is in Australian’s interest to support this fight in case we face similar oppressive influences and need support ourselves. Australians, at heart, understand the will to fight for fairness and uphold freedoms. We live in a big world, not the small mind of a megalomaniac.

As an Australian I agree. Emailed my local MPs multiple times about it. No courtesy on a reply either.

Supporting Ukraine’s success is the world’s best security
  • @GarrisonFall
I'm ashamed at my (Australian) government's support. Writing letters gets meaningless replies or none at all. I've paid for a few drones. I wish that I wasn’t so old.

I'm Australian and believe we have dropped the ball. 🤬We are scrapping choppers and F18s instead of giving to Ukraine WTF?

On ya mate!! 😎✊🏻🇦🇺 Another Aussie here, watching, listening, learning, liking, commenting, subscribing, sharing , donating & supporting Ukraine in anyway I can. Haven’t missed a beat since 24/02/2024. If our government would grow a pair, and tax our gass that gets exported adequately and fairly, we could easily afford to give Ukraine as much as what US and EU have provided. There is an internal stranglehold on Australia that has imposed itself from abroad, no thanks to some self serving politicians. I only wish for now to see Ukraine win back its full territorial integrity and for Russia to EFOff out’a there. Slava Ukraini ✊🏻💙💛🇺🇦🇦🇺
  • @ib-bip-66
Thank you , Mr.Baiilieu. For keeping it real. Slava Ukraini!💙💙💛💛 Support fom Denmark.
  • I’m Australian too - I care deeply what’s happening in Ukraine and have followed daily since day one! The debacle over denying Ukraine’s request for those helicopters and the pathetic excuses were outrageous!! Shameful behaviour from our government ☹️

Great to see the support in the comments... 100% agree we should be doing more... Thankfully haven't seen the russian trolls yet, guess it's just a matter of time...
