Further they are also closer to the airbases that are used for glide bomb attacks, forcing Russia to use or relocate jets in a threat rich environment. Hey what about the air defense system Ukraine put in place on Russian soil. Seems they intend to stay and hold the land they took until they can trade it for their sovereign soil - smart! Your talking head is missing a key piece of data.

This is much more important for Ukraine to continue than most people understand. They are doing a fantastic job of breaking Putin's reputation with the Russian people. They are also fighting where the Russians were not fully prepared with a million defensive mines in the ground. Very smart. Slava Ukraine from the USA! I also notice that Moscow is a lot closer than Sevastopol. Maybe the Ukrainians should take Moscow and trade for Crimea!

Contrary to this, Ukraine will have to move its troops from eastern frontline to there. This will open a window for Russia to accelerate offensive in Donbas, which will eventually lead to panic in Ukrainian frontlines. So, Zelensky may get some media approval. However, in the long run, he will waste men, material and territory of Ukraine.
