Nie Huaisang

What a brilliant strategist this guy is! Imagine the depth of his sorrow if, for a person who only wanted to play around with his friends and have fun, he had to wake up one day and plot a revenge with such patience and perfection. There was an explanation video which said that Nie Huisang had actually enticed Xue Yang into doing his bidding as well as he knew that XY and JG were co-conspirators and I found that to be such a fantastic theory worthy of NH. - WWX's body (along with his sword) was taken by Jin Guangyao and he wanted to resurrect him with XY's help (as XY was already practicing demonic cultivation) and make him into a fierce corpse that could be controlled with the piece of Yin iron in XY's possession. They were already practicing this dark magic using the Wen prisoners and Wen Ning was the first example of a successful resurrection (done by WWX). They tried this with Nie Mingjue but that was unsuccessful. The theory here is that after WWX's death, Jin Guangshan was probably the one who actually arranged to have WWX's body, his sword and manuscripts to be brought back as he was a collector and was also super ambitious (he was secretly coveting the Yin seal and WWX's powers) and supported XY's demonic cultivation (this is seen from how he wanted to protect XY) as he thought he could use it as a way to make Jin clan powerful. However, he did not take into account Jin Guangyao's hatred and his desire to destroy everyone who looked down on him and his mother. - NH made XY believe that bringing WWX back to life would help him get Xiao Xingchen resurrected as XY had been trying this for 8 years with no luck. No I am wondering when XY said "There is a friend who is good at pretending", who he was actually referring to!!!! - NH also asked XY to get him Nie Mingjue's body (which was with JG after the beheading) which explains why it ended up in Yi Cheng, where XX's body was kept too. This partnership is what prompted WWX to tell NH in the last episode that the most important edict in the Lan principles is "do not befriend the traitorous and evil.". I first thought he was referring to their relationship (NH and WWX) which is plausible but when I heard this theory, NH's response of "Don't worry, I don't get involved in affairs that are not related to me" made a lot more sense. - NH also instigated Mo Xuanyu by spreading rumours about him which got him kicked out of the Jin clan and increased his desire for revenge against JG (in the book, MX is gay and he is accused of harassing JG himself!). He also gave him WWX's manual to sacrifice himself - this was supposedly kept in JG's secret trophy room and the only way MX would have gotten it is if NH directed him to look for it there. Such fascinating insights! The moral of the story is that the quiet and timid ones should never be underestimated. :)

His “im stoopid” mask is more impressive than Wei Wuxian’s tbh. Those two characters both hide behind a mask of jokes and innocence while their mind swirl like a tornado.

Such a dangerous character. He's actually the main manipulator of the movie. And to think that his real characteristic is only found out in the end is actually giving goosebumps.

This MV made me realize how sad that nothing is left for Nie Huaisang. Weiying has Lan Zhan, Jiang Cheng still has Jin Ling. Song Lan still has Xingchen's spirit pouch with him, Xichen still has Wang Ji and Qiren. Wen Ning still has Wen Yuan/Sizhui while for him he will be alone for life.

Guangyao: I didn't expect you to be my downfall neither did we...

I realized everything has a meaning. Jin Guang Yao didn't only harm Nie Mingjue, he made Huai Sang do it unconsciously too. So Huai Sang made Xichen stab Jin Guang Yao to understand how it felt like. If he really only wanted Jin Guang Yao dead, he wouldn't really need to prepare so much.

You have put together an incredible video. First, we think Nie Huaisang is a bit flighty and leans towards the artistic rather than the martial path. By the end, we find out that he possesses one of the most brilliant minds and has the patience to oversee his plan for revenge even if it takes years. Nie Huaisang had to harden his gentle soul in order to put everything into motion. Clan Nie will find itself with a clan leader who no longer hides behind a facade. Clan Leader Nie will lead with his shrewdness, inner strength, and courage.

His character is so tragic. Wwx makes me feel longing for people i loved, the ones i will never see again. But NHS makes me feel longing for things that never happened in my life, the happiness that could have been there but was ripped away from me. NHS spent so much time of his life plotting revenge and, in the end, he was completely alone. He avenged his brother and, in the end, he probably felt empty. Imagine putting everything into something and, when this something is accomplished, you don't know what to do with your life afterwards. You don't feel joy or sadness, just emptiness. Everything ended, you don't have life purpose anymore, and no people around you for support and guidance too.

One of my favourite characters! He’s not a villain, nor a bad person. He’s a good guy, an artistic soul, who was forced to do what he had to do when his last family member was brutally taken away from him by someone he trusted and considered as a named brother.

I HAVE HIT THE REPEAT BUTTON TOO MANY TIMES. This whole video feels like a ride of emotions. The parts where he asks “ Is it so important? Shall I abandon my brother only to be the master of the Nie family?” to the scenes where he discovers the whole truth, all those scenes together brought me so many chills and excitement. And then the parts right after his ‘thanks’.. god you truly have a gift. This FMV was excellent!

The way this show disclosed his real identity and as the one behind the downfall of Jin Guangyao is truly astounding and the writer, director & actor himself knew what they were doing

It's really sad how NHS has fought so hard only to lose the last friend he had in the end: Wei Wuxian. I totally get why Wei Ying wouldn't want to be close with him anymore but it's still so sad.

No matter how much I love the developments, arcs and characters. I will forever mourn WWX, NHS, and JC's relationship. It just broke my heart so much, that I feel (a bit) empty how it gave us an ambiguous ending, regards to WWX's relationship towards the other characters. I love them... and I love them so much, it pains me to not know more. I NEED MOREEEE😭

I love Nie Huesan. He is the good angel who gave us back WWX and by doing so allowed my dear LWJ to have his happy ending while simultaneously make GuangYao pay for his countless crimes and even made possible, for the too obliviously kind to the level of being a liability, Lan XiChen do something good for once and not just gossip behind his brother back to the worst vilain in the story. NHS used some dangerous tatics to achieve his goal to destroy GuangYao to avenge his brother but he is by no means evil. He doesn't poursuit power or greed. I'm really sad that WWX can think of NHS as evil with all the evil people he has encountered. NHS is a good person. To fight such an enemy like the smart GuangYao, he didn't have the luxury to not use some very dubious tatics like putting the juniors in a dangerous situation in order to push WWX and LWJ nearer and nearer to the end goal for him. NHS is a genius is his own right. A careful and focus planner.

Happy (belated) 2 year anniversary to literally, no exaggeration, hands down, the greatest Nie Huaisang edit every created. I think I’ve watched this video like 10 times and every single time it has managed to stun me. Absolutely magnificent
