Only Nick Shabazz can do a 20 minute "Quick Review" of....a pen. 😂
  • I just met him today at the DC pen show and picked one of these up in copper. I like it so far!

If you tried to eyedropper this pen, the ink, depending on what ink you use, could have a chemical reaction to the brass. Your best bet is to pick up a small converter to protect your pen investment. Kaweco has a few options for their sport that probably would work, if the pen has space for two ink cartridges, then it would work for a standard converter. I don't think it would take a standard converter, since the pen body is shorter.

The recap sums it up perfectly. Trying to explain to a friend who's not into this kinda thing the value of a smooth thread is a hazardous occupation.
  • EDC Nerd Thing and this very nice Schon Design Pen: first one of the reasons husband and I like EDC is that they are small businesses and pens are made in the US; (We were disappointed when we recently learned that Big Idea is NOT US made - which is kind of implied in packaging "designed in US" is everywhere hard to find made in china etc); second the link between aesthetics and function is durability: the harmony between material, design, machine etc makes for pens without the small problems that become big problems later on. I have some German fountain pens made in the 1970s that continue to be a pleasure to use; yes, a community has evolved from the EDC concept - and why not? As for the intensity of the debates compared to the medium priced well made handbag debates (as good as those costing a few K but remaining deep in 3 figures) - EDC "discourse" is positively RELAXED..... I love EDC reviews especially yours I learn a lot too since I buy stuff for both myself and my husband also an EDC Nerd.....apart from weapons we do all of it....wallets etc. the aesthetics overlap about 85% of the time - watches and bags being the primary areas of difference sorry backpacks and slings etc look RIDICULOUS in a business dress...he doesn't like handbags either....:-) I use both for hiking and travel....but in the carry on wars women's totes are positively Machiavellian in that they look far smaller than they actually are....Video was as usual top of the line thank you for the careful attention to important details. Glad to be a subscriber see you in the next one G

What a weird knife, not sure why it needs 3 whole interchangeable blades. Cool review Nick!

Great review! I've had my eye on this. Concerning the ink, you can't eyedropper a pen that is metal because of how the ink reacts to the metal. Only plastics.

Another great review! Minimalist is appropriate sometimes. How do you feel about using this as a ‘wilderness pen’, something to carry along on hikes and camping. I don’t mind patina at all, love it actually. I don’t plan on needing to write in rainy weather, so that doesn’t matter. I would opt for the fountain pen version, btw…it holds cartridges and I guess standard converters? Thank you!
  • @edrader
the anyway you want it pen. get it?
  • @SnakebitSTI
Speaking of the machining quality, I bet it would look great with the machining marks from finishing passes not polished off. Not sure how that would wear, though.
  • @ribstein7714
I assume the rollerball, with a cartridge would wear out with time as is the usual with said style of pen. as to using this as an eyedropper: the Brass body and what I assume to be stainless screws should leave it resistant to corrosion but idk if I would trust the screws to not corrode with an extended usage of the pen in such a manner. actually, the screws are on the cap so it may work
  • I have a Schon DSGN Pocket 6 in aluminum, but I don’t carry much because it doesn’t have a clip. This version is much more compelling. However, I prefer 12 mm sections; at 9.6mm, this may be too thin for me.
  • Please just stop lol. I've bought so many pens because of you! At least I've listened to the don't get into watch advice.
  • @redpanda540
are you going to review the new Inventery Bolt Action?
  • @masonr1666
I wonder how it compares to the Kaweco Brass/ Steel Sport.
  • @DrLFV
you should NOT eye dropper fill a non-varnished all metal pen, nor anodized pens. The metal reacts with liquids and detergents used in inks. It may precipitate solids which clog your fountain pen and would make for an unusable experience. So no, do not do that.
