historically accurate or not, can we agree that without the game, we would never have this discussion. it's amazing how something like video games can ignite a curiosity in us like school never has (speaking for myself).

"Help! Mongols have killed my family and are invading my village!" Jin: As much as I want to help, good sir, climbing this mountain and reaching that small shrine is something that is essentially needed for such a task.
  • Fun fact: The Mongol invasions of Japan would remain the largest amphibious assaults ever launched until the Allies landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

its kinda amazing how the mongols were able to fight both the samurai and the knights of europe

Even the developers of Ghost of Tsushima said this game wasn’t meant to be historically accurate. Every character was fictional and they focused more on just presenting a authentic Feudal Japanese experience. The only accurate part was the beginning battle of the Mongol Invasion in which a cavalry charge of 80 samurai attempted to cut down the Mongol invaders. Even Mongol records revealed that the Samurai of Tsushima fought with a determination and ferocity the Mongols never saw from an enemy before. Even one source stating a witness of how one samurai downed 25 Mongols before he was finally overwhelmed.
  • This would have to be the most drastic response to a left unread message I’ve ever seen.

It’s amazing to imagine that Samurai warriors and European Hussars fought the same empire without even knowing each other existed
