I'm surprised that they didn't add a City Escape course to Team Sonic Racing. That level seems perfect for a race.
  • "Sure, the parent can stomp the child to the ground..." Future parent goal right there....

No comparison! I go CTR 😁
  • @rotz357
I agree with lack of content in sonic. But i love the fact you can go solo racing against friends or team with them. Its brilliant that they added both

I think TSR would be much better if it wasn't a budget title, and its because sega is scared of wasting money on a game that may not do well, thats why games like generations had nothing to do after the main levels/bad edits while unleashed had multiple levels and many acts etc

The team mechanic of Team Sonic Racing showed promise. Basically a mode where you could work with other racers, sharing items, and also leave trails behind that your allies can boost with, is quite interesting.

It’s sad how good CTR is Cuz when they originally made it they were trying to do away with crash but accidentally made a hit 😂
  • @SSiana
I choose CTR because it have good soundtrack, graphics and it's my childhood

Awesome vid. Thanks for doing such a well done comparison. I’m excited for CTR!

As someone who's played neither game so far, Sonic looks preferable to me. It looks faster, it's got a better frame rate, I prefer Sonic characters, and the music is freaking awesome! (Seriously, the music's not even close)

Really, I'm mostly just glad that we're getting more (non-shovelware..freaking Garfield Kart and whatever NIckoledean Kart was) kart racers again. I know there's a lot of competition between fans of CTR, Sonic, and Mario Kart, but I enjoy all of them. (WEll, I haven't played TSR yet, but I enjoyed the previous All-Stars Racing games.)

This was extremely helpful. I was debating between these two. I already own MK8 on WiiU and didn't really want to buy the same game again. So I have been holding out for an alternative and it comes down to these. I was leaning toward CTR anyway because I enjoyed that back on the PS1 (but didn't own it) so it won the nostalgia factor, but the Sonic racers for the Wii and WiiU were both enjoyable. This helped me decide to punt for CTR though. So thanks :)

I still find it weird how Sonic the Hedgehog is driving a race car, Despite the fact that he can run faster than the speed of flipping light. ..You don't ask these questions with Crash Team Racing.

Nice video bro, i was curious about TSR. Your video helped me a lot, thanks. Cant wait to play CTR after so many years..

You kinda shed light into why I’m way more hype for CTRNF over TSR on a personal level. At least you are pointing out all pros, and cons for both titles having both been experienced without any sort of bias favoritisms. Even if CTRNF really comes out on top in terms of overall gameplay content, I’m sure TSR is still a fun time. I’ll be playing both for comparison sake. I am both veteran, and fan of both franchises.

Well about all I can say now is that was a great in-depth comparison CGE. Well done.

I'm gonna disagree with you on the voice acting front. You can't say a Sonic game has bad voice acting because it's a Sonic game. Everything is delivered with a child-like innocence because those characters (for the most part) are marketed towards children and are meant to be family friendly. With that perspective, I think they did a great job. I especially like the interactions between characters the most; some of them have rarely if at all spoken to each other in past games and its good to see them acknowledge each other in their world. And one thing you forgot to mention is the multiplayer, which, in my opinion, is where TSR has CTR beat all ends up. There are more layers to it due to the teamwork mechanics overlapping with the racing mechanics whereas CTR is basically Mario Kart but with more interactive controls like you said. Aside from the drifting, there are only small differences between the multiplayer in those games and TSR has innovated on that superbly. Now all it needs a stronger online player base. CTR was my first ever video game and I cannot wait to dive in and play this newer version of the game I poured so many hours into. TSR is my first Sonic racer since Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity and I really missed doing so many cool things with the characters I love from the series. Once I started playing on expert difficulty, it became clear that TSR is one of the most satisfying racers I've played in some time.
