This song makes me sad. It takes me back to my childhood. When I was a poor black kid living in the inner city projects of Houston Texas. I was bullied horribly everyday and my life was hell. I seriously considered ending my life to end my pain. Music, books and movies were my escape from the hell my life was back then. Thank goodness I could see beyond the fences of the projects a realized that there was a whole world out there. Away from that horrible place and those terrible people. I did escape and did find happiness in my life. I left the ghetto and never looked back. I am to this day still covered with the scars from that sad, lonely child. But I wear them proudly and see myself as a survivor.

She should've gotten a Grammy for this song. ❤

This is the best Diana Ross song ever. It was recorded with full orchestral back-up, a very rare occurrence these days. Credit to Michael Masser for writing such a beautiful piece. RIP.

Success is nothing without someone to share it with.

This song gives me the feels everytime. Everything about it is perfect - the lyrics, singing, orchestration. Everything.

Remember this when it was first released in 1975. Great memories. Beautiful song.

"When you look behind you, there's no open doors". - I think this means that we can't change the past. We can't change the road we've taken, after it's taken. Once we cross the door of time, it disappears behind us, we can't go back. There are no open doors behind us, only in front of us.

I just heard this song for the first time in my life. I'm 35. I don't like what life is showing me. It's been a hard knock life. This song is like a lullaby. It makes me feel better regardless of how filled of shit I feel.
