In 2508, the human race would reach for the stars in a desperate attempt to feed their massive resources hungry empire. But not everything in space is so keen on helping humanity. The USG Ishimura attempts to crack a planet down for resources, only for something on the planet to awaken and fight back. In space, nobody can hear you scream.

This isn't even an April fools prank. This is just good lore.
  • The way the necromorphs get onto the Ishimura is borderline comedy; there are three crewships of survivors from the colony, they refuse to return to the planet's surface so the Ishimura opens fire on them. 1.)They completely destroy the first crewship which is full of innocent people 2.) They clip a second crewship causing it to crash into the Ishimura killing many of the innocent people on board 3.) But the third? It gets through to the Ishimura's hanger no problem, and who's on the third ship? A corpse, a necromorph, and an infector. These clowns destroyed EVERY ship except for the one that was the actual threat.

I remember this one. I remember the government claimed it was a terrorist attack and it wasn't until year's later someone posted the Security footage online that blew the whole thing open. RIP to the crews involved.
  • Thoughts and prayers for the crew of the USG Ishimura. Never forget!
  • See this is how you do April fools. No pranks, just a change of pace. Its nice. Love your work!
  • @ComradeKits
My Uncle actually worked on the Ishimura as an Engineer, but he thankfully transferred before the incident happened. He used to tell me funny stories about being late for work in the Gravity Centrifuge because of the decontamination sequencer. I sure would've hated to be stuck in that thing during the incident!
  • I had a friend who took part in the attempt to salvage what was left of the Ishimura. He never talked about about it, but he was never the same after that. Blew his brains out last year. R.I.P. Kenny

John carpenter said he'd have loved to make a dead space movie, the way you described the events leading up to the game gave me a clear image of what they could do with that

The true "Maritime Horrors" from the Ishimura weren't the events that led to its destruction: it was the fact that the ship's captain didn't steer the ship directly into the nearest star to purge the horrors onboard, as well as the fact that the horrors were able to escape and spread across the galaxy.

This is a great reminder of just how great the world building was in Dead Space. Also I love these analysis of fictional disaster videos.
  • Despite you doing this for April Fools I still absolutely love this episode as a fan of the Dead Space series.
  • @TheTwerp
I always thought the large morgue was for an actual practical reason. The unitologists didn't want to be cremated or buried for religious reasons. So the bodies were to be sent to the church after death. Considering how popular unitology had become, it made sense to me that ships of this era would have larger facilities in case of a large accident and the need to move a lot of bodies back.
  • In both Dead Space 1 and 2 the Ishimura always just creeped me out. That ship and it's small enclosed spaces, even though it was massive in total size, and the overall eerie vibe it gave off; It was one of very few things that actually has the ability to make me 'very wary', when enjoying the content of it's series. Suffice to say, they just don't make 'em like they used to. Horror games, horror movies, ships, you name it.
  • @Scooter_Alice
I can't remember who pointed this out, but one thing I love about the ship is that its design makes it look like an open ribcage. From the moment you step foot onto the Ishimura it's a rotting carcass.
  • @jevidar
Should have a complete channel dedicated to stuff like this. These have to be the best synopsis of sci-fi/horror ship disasters available.
  • @TwiliPaladin
Every one of your episodes is fantastic, but the April Fools episodes always have a special charm to them. Keep up the great work.
  • @trekkiepro
Most of the time, April Fools jokes make me roll my eyes to retina detachment. But this was gold.
  • I was one of the very few survivors from the Ishimura, I only got back a few weeks ago.. Still having nightmares RIP to my fallen crewmates, ill never forget stomping you for ammo 😢
