About The Guest:
Alex Honnold is on the podcast! Who? The guy that free handed Yellowstone? Close enough.
Seriously though, this was such a great interview. We talked about his two most epic solos that nobody heard about, near misses, lessons from other climbing legends like Tommy Caldwell, Jonathan Siegrist, and Peter Croft, pooping while free soloing stories, how the film Free Solo exceeded his hopes and dreams, the commitment to excellence, and much more!

Only Alex can fall 10 feet with an abyss below and say it was an adventure lmao
-
Alex describing in 2 climbing experiences more excitement, fear, dread and near death than most people experience in a lifetime!
-
Man climbing into 5.11 unfamiliar terrain solo is just such a wild concept.
-
[Most mind-blowing story of death-defying climbing ever told] “Ok… but you said there were two stories?”
-
I’m a mountain biker with not much interest in climbing but I follow Alex religiously as he fascinates me through his humbleness, grit, and heart.
-
Meanwhile, on another mountain, there's a bighorn sheep frantically scanning the snow for Alex Honnold footprints...
-
I'm so glad he's still living. What he does is amazing and extremely dangerous. Many have not survived
-
The fact that Alex can climb at all with those huge balls is legend
-
The last story with the friend sandbagging him is so funny 😂
-
Normally you might think a guy telling stories like this is embellishing facts. But this is Alex Honnold. And the movie starring him Free Solo can’t be captured in words.
-
"Yeah I almost died. I was psyched"

I had a small manzanita bush save me after I fell on the death slabs under the Regular route on Half Dome - I slipped on some sand on the granite slabs & my haul bag was so slippery I just started accelerating towards a 200' cliff. The bush was about 50' from the cliff and it stopped me, but I kept breaking branches and ended up just hanging from a green branch until my friend lowered a rope and I was able to get back on safe ground. Adventure!
-
I read the thumbnail as “My Bush Saved My Life” and thought Alex had a giant bush like “yeah, probably”
-
Alex's mind "if a goat can climb this, so can I."
