Dungeon of Dredmor Necromancer Weird Stats

Published 2011-07-19
I've been noticing a certain significant buff of stats as i played with my necromancers. Most notably after monster zoo's or alike. I decided to record my observation.

@samipso I get the mana glitch on my necro from Nightmare Curse, but I've never noticed magic power skyrocketing like that. Pretty game-breaking.

Strangely, I'm experiencing the same effect, but with HP (I'm at 140 and steadily climbing, and am only level 11 with only a quarter or a third of those levels as a warrior or rogue.  Seriously, I should have very little HP but I can take a punch.)  My health regen also displays as 9, and (based on how many debuffs are needed to make it display lower) I think it's 11, and should only be 4. My play-style heavily emphasizes the deathly hex.  I didn't touch it until I'd found a single black book and didn't start throwing it all over the place until I'd found two.  By then, I'd put  a couple points in Alchemy and was able to transmute some gems and make two of the best emerald ring.  That's where I got the 4 health regen, but I did it so I could shrug off the full 20 stacks of lingering weakness. With 2 necro resistance and a couple of emerald rings to absorb the debuffs, I basically went nuts with deathly hex.  Costing only 2 to start with, and able to cut that in half with alcohol, I could pretty much fight cast nonstop against zoos, especially with the thematurgic tap to fall back on for mana. When my spell power started getting high enough that I was taking necro damage, I started using Mark of Cthon for the extra point of resistance, enjoying the added damage as well, although this made mana scarcer.  When my spell power still got too high, I sometimes switched to Nightmare Curse actually SEEKING to debuff it so I wouldn't be hurt.  This spell also debuffed my necro resistance, but that one passes very quickly, so I switched to crossbow while I waited it out, then back to hexes. I think that if we accumulate more than 20 stacks of a debuff affecting health/mana/regen, we get reimbursed for everything that procs, even though we only get debuffed for at most 20 stacks.  I could see the devs not accounting for players who exploit caps on debuff stacks, although a necro would obviously be the first to get that opportunity.

Epic glitch! Do you think it's Mark of Cthon or the Nightmare Curse debuff?

@afxtal It does seem broken going from1/3 back to 3. But i am not sure. I'd need to test it further to make sure. But i sent this video to the devs. I can't use my character anymore as i finished the game.
