Terminator - Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN)

It's so funny to me that Contra, which was a ripoff of every action and sci-fi flick of the 80s era more or less, was a great game while all the actual game versions of things like "The Terminator" and "Rambo" sucked.

5:55  When James said "I'll be back" I was really hoping he would come back crashing his car through the wall and ramming into the tv.

James is so talented at making these videos. No wonder why retro video game reviewing exploded after he got it going

The graphics and music are so depressing

You know what's really weird? Nearly every shooter game James played in the past he mentions Contra, which is a really badass game. He did a Castlevania marathon since he always mentions it, how about making a Contra marathon of different Contra games both good and bad? I bet that would be very interesting since James always seems to bring up the name Contra in a lot of these old episodes. One of these days he will I bet.

Besides the actual sky-high quality of the videos, what I REALLY like about AVGN is the fact that he, unlike many other reviewers today, not only respects other people's opinions but makes clear that he's not gonna knock anyone for having their own, or force his on anyone else. And plus, he looks forward to the newer games and plays those, too. So here's a guy who looks to all ends of the videogaming pantheon and therefore has a 100% complete perspective on what it is he talks about. And I'm sure such a universal view and level of respect helps the video quality, too. Deadass, other people could learn from him.

Gotta love that classic Terminator song: "Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da ZHE ZHE ZHE-ZHA Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da ZHE ZHE ZHE-ZHA!"

"Making me put a wrench on a controller is that what you want to do with your life?" That line just makes me laugh so much. I love how we'd do things like this to have the game automatically play for us back then.

Funny thing James didn't notice, shooting the spears earn points too

One thing I really like about the NES Terminator game is that unlike almost every other game in existence, you don't take damage from simply touching enemies. Also, there is an infinite life code. B, B, up, left, and A on a second controller.

Keep in mind, a lot of 80s hair also got into that blender. That can mess up a lot of things.

The music in the Sega CD version is awesome, because it was Tommy Talarico. Who also did the music in MDK, Wild 9, Skeleton Warriors, and the Earthworm Jim games.

The nerd's face at 8:46 after having to start all the way back to the beginning of the game after losing his lives was dead-on priceless.

When an ad with Arnold in it shows up right before the video.

AVGN: "...and at the end of the storm, is a rainbow.  A rai-- oh no..." Myself: "A rainbow, of SHIT."

That music is the worst I've heard in any video game. My ears are bleeding. It's like the program they were using for making the music was having a seizure, and they decided to use what came out of it.

Not sure why, but the Star Wars music part @9:40 kills me every time lol.
