In case anyone is wondering, the white powder is likely Borax. It lowers the melting point for scale, allowing for a clean weld.

I'm not a knife or sword guy, but I can definitely appreciate the skill and craftsmanship involved in the knife making process. It's truly an art form. Thanks for sharing.

I have great respect for people who make things with their own hands. Especially things that take so much time and attention to create

He created something beautiful that will be admired and functional for generations, if properly maintained. The hallmark of a master at the pinnacle of his career.
  • The passion of the maker is evident. Turning pieces of steel sheet into a functional artistic piece is priceless in terms of satisfaction.

This is one of the coolest videos I've seen in a very long time. Watching the slag fall off during the twisting process was just so great. I'm not sure why, but I love seeing steel being purified under heat and a hammer. At first, I wondered how he could ever make a living doing this one knife at a time. Crafting 4 knives at once answered that question.

My uncle taught me this when I was young. But we did everything and I mean everything by hand, making the edge, hammering, shaping, sharpening with a stone. A lot of fun, definitely a recommendation.😊
