WOW! When four soldiers are scared, then you know that something must have been terribly wrong. Great story Chris.

Hey Chris, I was in Ely Minnesota at Camp Voyager in 1969-70 summers. We canoe through that whole area up there while a camp in the summertime. It was a blast, Charlie Ergman ran the camp. It's a mysteriously beautiful place. Thanks for the video and be safe out there.

Northern MN is our secret gem! BWCA, VOYAGERS, ELY, GUNFLINT TRAIL!

My friends and I were at the BWCA in 2005. We paddled 18 miles into the unknown to Lake Insula and it was the most beautiful camp that we found. The fishing was insane. We were catching walleye back to back. It was the 2nd night and about 2am and we all fell asleep to a pack of wolves howling, i would guess they were pretty close to us, maybe a mile or less. There was 5 of us in a huge tent. And 3 in another tent. I woke up to the sound of giant foot steps and sticks breaking. Everyone else was sleeping. I was on the edge of the tent. I could hear whatever it was getting closer. I could even hear it breathing and it slowly got just to the side of my tent, just on the other side of the plastic. I was trying not to make any noise and still as can be. It pressed up against the tent. I thought that was it for me. Eventually i passed out. Im guessing it was a huge black bear. I will never really know but, when you cant see through the tent, you're other senses kick in and i could tell by the sticks breaking and the breathing and everything that it was atleast 500 pounds. It was terrifying and exiting all in one. The BWCA is the most dark, dense, quiet scary place at night. I hope i told a good story! Jay

Every Sunday, I wait to watch your videos until I am sitting down for supper. It has become a Sunday ritual for me. Love the stories. Thanks Chris!

A friend and I went on a canoe/fishing trip in the BWCA back in the 80's, and had a bit of a scare making our way out of there. Well, we were having such a good time we lost track of time, and realized we had to head back to get moving to get the canoe back to the canoe rental on time. It was dark by then, but we had no choice... so we started making our way back aided by the bright moonlight. We were about halfway to our destination paddling out in the open having equal distance between both islands on either side of us... Well... all of a sudden there were big splashes in the water surrounding the canoe- yeah, we freaked out a bit thinking it was Bigfoot throwing big rocks at us from one of the shorelines... until I saw that beaver tail whack the water in front of the canoe lol :) We went from panic mode to adrenaline charged laughter... one second we thought we were about to die... the next we thought it was the funniest thing ever, the wave of relief that swept over us was palpable and likely one reason we exploded into laughter. Alls well that ends well... we got the canoe back on time without further incident, and all in all it was a great trip! we caught lots of fish and got the sht scared out of us :) it doesn't get any better than that! lol

❤ didn't we hear this one before...twice as nice.
  • @J_M_300
I don’t know what’s scarier coming up a stream hearing huge tree knocks or a banjo playing
  • Camped out on Ramshead lake in may of 1977. No sasquach, but the wood ticks made up for it. Fishing was awesome.
  • @stevesuerth6906
Who cares if you've told it before...I love that story!!! He was definitely being led deeper into the woods
  • @Colorado8300

Never caught you post only 47 seconds after you put it out. So I jumped on it! Roy was too brazen! This story is familiar. Did you retell it. Roy was been lured out there. Really interesting story about North American Native tribes experiencing canoe thefts from both sides of our now border. The boy's scouts and outfitter had a pretty bad scare. What a sneaky thing to do, take one of the only means of transportation between islands! Bigfoot is clever and mischievous. Thank you Chris for sharing this account of the four buddies canoe trip.

At least you were drinking a different beer as you told this story a second time and you did add some different details to the story which was nice. Thanks for the video.
  • Excellent story and stellar delivery Chris. I thank you for providing a safe place where we can share our experiences without judgement. One day soon ill write my experience up and send it your way. Stay safe and stay cool out there.
