Today's video edited by Clicker Happy! (with a couple little tweaks from myself). Give 'em a big hand!

Shoutouts to Scykoh, A+Start, and Summoning Salt for teaching me about just about every single one of these glitches... Scykoh in particular was who got me interested in glitching out pokemon games in the first place years ago.

Watch the full series of VODs here! There's a few supplimentary glitches in there as well as some classic Pokémon hijinks.    • [Full stream] - Pokemon Blue Glitch H...

what would you do if you heard a giant voice in the sky say "DING DONG! TIMES UP, THE SAFARI GAME IS OVER" and then the world turned into oatmeal

"When I killed your Ratacate it was the most important day of you life, for me... It was tuesday"
  • The idea of an entire team of Missingnos all called "BEES" fills me with an emotion.

I like to say these games are held together with spit and wishful thinking

You know the butterfly effect is insane when growling at a random kids slowpoke determines the strength of a god

I fucking love how whenever a pokemon is hit by a Missing.no they just shatter like a glass sheet

Imagine living in this world; a child stands on water, paralyzes two people by making them touch a wall, steals an old man's name like a fairy and with that name summons a "thing" that he calls a bird but clearly isn't, captures a unique creature that he transmuted out of thin air, shatters reality a couple times, spins non stop inexplicably making strange noises and phases through solid matter... Oh yeah he's also the new pokemon champion and possibly god itself.

29:47 The fact the Pokémon shatter like a plane of glass makes the attacks seem even more powerful

1:06 fun fact! all status moves prior to generation 3 had a 25% chance of just flat out failing (edit: this is only for the enemy ai, not the player). this seems like a glitch but no it was completely intentional. also the reason the pidgey didn't move the next turn was due to a speed tie, which is when 2 pokemon have equal speed stats the game flips a coin to see which one goes first.

The Mew glitch is the most insane video game glitch ever. I remember watching YouTube videos of it as a kid and going "yeah sure okay lol", then busting out my copy of Yellow to test it and being stupefied when Mew showed up. The things you have to do and its result makes it sound like every one of those old rumors that were "dude you can unlock Sonic in Melee by leaving the game on for 1000 hours and beating Mr. Game & Watch 69 times on Final Destination with Fox!" but it actually fucking works.

honestly, the reason this game is so buggy is because of how fucking amazingly well thought out it was. the sheer amount of optimization that had to go into this is honestly hard to believe. every little thing had to be used at all time, nothing could go to waste. sure, it created some bugs, but all in all, this was a perfectly functional and surprisingly stable game. what game freak managed to do with pokemon is almost a miracle.

You really have to appreciate when glitches work out like the missingno one. Too little and the glitch is barely remarkable, too much and it destroys your game. Imagine how simultaneously precise and nonsensical you have to be to discover glitches like that.

one minute in and he has already died laughing from a pp joke, this is gunna be good

The main difference between MissingNo and M is that MissingNo occupies 39 slots of "blank" data for Pokemon that were removed from the game before release. M occupies hexadecimal slot 00 on the ROM, and the reason why M can always show up no matter your name is that if you use a custom name then there are several invisible "end of name" characters added to the end of your player name, which also use hex value 00 and thus will result in M appearing. No idea why M is so unstable, but it will attempt to evolve into Kangaskhan at every level aside from 136(?) when it tries to evolve into Clefairy. Also if you already have an M in your party there's a chance any new ones will turn into Rhydon, who occupies hex slot 01 next in line. If you catch the "ghost M" that remains after catching it the first time you'll get a totally normal Ditto. Nobody knows why this happens. Gen 1 glitching was my life when I was younger so I know far more than any reasonable person should.
