Massive respect for getting this video out after a couple of tough weeks for you. It would have been easy to post nothing. Fair play.

Such a strange combination of events and decisions. Gutted for you with the end result. 2025, more to come! Thanks for documenting the process, it‘s been very interesting to watch and has definitely helped motivate me to get back to some pretty competitive running this year.

This race was something else, I felt awful for Elliot. This was an Olympic trials and for Josh to use such a huge race to simply test himself over a shorter distance is not good enough. He didn’t have much to lose by making his move whereas Elliot had everything to lose. I think this was an unacceptable risk on Josh’s part. The Team GB selectors must have had a difficult job making an honest selection after this incident. Perhaps setting a date for another trial/race would have been fairest although I’m not sure of deadlines etc… Elliot (and his family/support) deserved better than this. I wish him all the best and respect him for dealing with this so well.

It was a tough journey for everything to click for anyone for that Olympic spot. You have a true passion for the sport. I’m glad to see you will be back. Kudos for that.

I've been waiting for this video. Good on you, it can't have been easy to make this, but from the start you promised us the highs and the lows and it doesn't get much worse than this. I really felt for you during that race. I know no-one was to blame, it drives me nuts the way idiots point the finger, the 800m and 1500m almost always have collisions and falls. Following you all this time I know how hard you've worked, that it hasn't been easy with injuries, and to see it all come to this was truly heart-wrenching. You have to pick yourself up mentally now and move on from that race and the Olympics to what's next for you. I know you'll be back.
  • Gutted for you 👎 that’s racing for you . Keep the faith target next year. If you keep healthy over the winter with no injuries you’ll definitely have more to give 💪

Really enjoyed and appreciate your honesty in these videos. Showed some class here.

800m can be unpredictable at best and brutal at worst. It's what happens when athletes are running sprinting speeds in a non lane designated middle distance race. Elliot is in good company at least as the same thing happened to Athing Mu (current Olympic champion) in the US Olympic trials in Oregon. The GB selection process seems to be all over the place, however. Surely they should be either Olympic trials OR a British championship, not a mixture of the two. The incident didn't affect Josh Kerr's Olypic hopes (other than a few bruises) as he is automatically selected for the 1500m anyway. At least with the US system the athlete knows that they have to finish in the top three of their event in order to qualify, no ifs, no buts. Injuries are hard to take but racing accidents suck.
  • Josh Kerr, should not have gotten evolved in the 800m. You were unlucky....but you will be back and better than before. Thanks for sharing your story from the beginning. You are authentic and keep things simple. All the best.
  • @gregan78
Kerr should have run the 1500 (UK Athletics should insist when it affects others Olympic places). Wightman would then have got in the 1500 (Mills still has the 5K) and you would have most likely got the extra 800m spot. Thought your tactics were spot on.
