I've been disappointed with the gaming showcases lately but this was so honest, and showed the true enthusiasm for this great technology!

Thanks for being so open and transparent. It's a very nice change compared to all the other big companies right now.

Really loved hearing about all the ways Meta is working to make virtual reality headsets more immersive!

Wow! This is incredible. I love that there are so many smart creative people coming up with truly novel solutions to these problems. Great job to all the teams 👍

Guys, each prototype is a meaningfull step towards making VR - the VR. I am especially excited by solving vergence & accommodation conflict by stacked LC lenses with the eyetracking in the loop. Also, rendering correct image for dynamic eye shifts/rotations sounds substantial. Right now, when I play VR shooter I can feel 200ms of the latency when my brain and eyes needs to refocus from a close-plane gun viewfinder to a far away enemy character. Can't wait when you will be able to ship first product that solves accommodation vergence confilct. It seems the technology is almost here, and added LC lenses does not introduce that much of artifacts, maybe a little blur at the periphery - probably can be adressed and improved.. EDIT: also cool to know, that the survey says that ppl prefer dynamic focus ON. It is exactly as I was betting all these years. 7:31 thats a little like Rick explains to Morty :D

The video clip seems like it is part of a much longer video session. Where can I watch the full video? has it been uploaded yet?
  • @rmplatts
Really great video, thank you for the insights into all the amazing tech you are working on. Mirror lake advancements looks incredible and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for VR.

I would buy the $5000 device. Just throw in some incentives like meta shares or free upgrades for early adopters.
  • This whole video was really fun to watch for me. Love the quest 2 but just about always play connected to pc just for the better resolution, better graphics and higher fps. Can't wait for future vrs

I think it’s really cool that Meta is open to showing prototypes like this and breaking down the engineering behind them. Lots of companies keep products secret untill their release, but this feel very open and honest which is refreshing.

This is such a great peak behind the curtain! Thanks for sharing what’s coming down the VR pipe👌 Hopefully this will also motivate 360 camera companies to up their resolution to match what you guys are making too!
