This question is so easily answered; $500. USD monthly - A 1 bedroom condo if you look around for a deal is around $300 small all amenities but definitely doable, water $20, electric is $100, internet & phone $50. Everything else on top of that is up to YOUR lifestyle. You choose how to spend the remaining budget

Locals can live in Bangkok for less than $700 per month. His quality of life is very good.

I met Greg back in June at Det5 just a week after he got his apartment, he was bouncing off the walls he was so excited. Awesome hanging with him and the gang all night.

I live comfortably in rural northern Thailand for about $300/ΰΈΏ10000 per month. I am on a retirement visa which costs me $1100 per year. I drive a motorcycle which is easy and cheap maintenance while being good on petrol. Medical is decent and incredibly inexpensive. I own my own home so I can cook for myself but I do eat out about fifty percent of the time. Supplies and miscellaneous is as he said, about one-quarter of the costs in the States. I was living well in Chiang Mai on about $1000 per month but grew tired of city life. Bangkok is one of the most expensive place to live in Thailand but if you gotta have nightlife and the girls then there you have it. Life can be very good here but learn the language, culture and customs before you settle or you will your experience will remain two dimensional.

Chris is good vibes for sure! I appreciate the transparency and encouragement to explore life in Thailand :)
  • I lived and taught choir at the International School of Bangkok in Nichada Thani for five years...I retired in 2010...Every day I ask myself why I didn't stay in Bangkok to live out my life...The best medical!!! The food, the shopping...There's EVERYTHING anyone could possibly want right there...I loved walking into a pharmacy to get antibiotics when I needed them...Bronchitis every 2-3 years...But I didn't have to go through making a Dr. appointment two weeks later..or more...Life was so easy...I miss the massages...the happy people...the kind people...EVERYTHING about it....sigh.

Good camera work, nice put together. And straight to the point. Thank you for your great video!
  • @BradSabako
Easily one of the best videos. Your guest was awesome, great concise, encompassing content. With health insurance and a trip home in America once a year, I averaged 1800$ per month. That included a couple regional trips too. So my experience was the same. I’m back in the states now til my dog passes, then I’m coming back to LOS! Thanks Chris.

AMAZING Video...My wife needs to see this! 20+ years ago for our 20th Anniversary we spent a month traveling (shopping) in Thailand and she LOVED Thailand and Thai people...and especially, the food. Thanks!

Greg seems like a nice guy. He should have a great time exploring the wonders of Thailand.

Great episode, Chris! This interview really brings the point home that it is possible to build a lifestyle that is unique and exciting... Live the dream! I've been an expat since 17 pretty much...Europe, the Middle East, and Asia have been my hangouts... Thailand is right at the top of my list of places to retire to (tied with The Philippines)... Positive factors in both places, each has their strengths and weaknesses... End goal after Dubai, where I'm at now? Split my time between the two countries... Likely will continue the business as well, if you love what you're doing it's not a job, it's a way of life that dovetails nicely with the rest of your life... Living the dream too... Cheers! πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™ πŸ‘πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

I would love to see a step by step video of how an expat goes about finding a similar apartment, what the qualifications are and the actual monetary transactions to get into an Thai apartment.
