Okay this is how much of a geek I am. It's Saturday evening early, and I am watching "Fundamental guide to interface with AMD GPU" for enjoyment not business.

4:52 - I generally use a 4-pin DuPont plug, remove one of the middle pins, and block the corresponding hole on the other side. That way it's impossible to connect it the wrong way.

I know nothing about electronics and gpu repairs but i like very much to watch all of these videos from Tony, i admire the persistence and the ethic values he puts on his craft!

Totally fantastic video! This has fast become my favourite GPU repair channel! The level of detail you go into is second to none!

man you could build a house out of those ASUS cards
  • 21:02 I think this controller has 3 different memory banks that can be flashed separately. The "CNFG" can be programmed 5 times total, "Trim" 3 times, and "User" 25 times. Given how it says "MTP" I think this is not actual flash memory on the silicon, but more like an eFUSE array that acts like a CD-R. It is actually not possible to erase (that would be a CD-RW), but there is a mechanism built in that invalidates the previous version, if you add a new one. So you can keep writing new versions of the same file on to it, until you run out of space, just like a CD-R.

These controllers are billiant, like a mini computers that can steer anything you want with PWM signals. This makes it more complicated to work with them, but once you get a grip, it can even be fun using them for your own projects :)

I love your videos! I watch every single one. I would love it if there was a 1440p option for your vids one day. Thanks for the content!

The amount of technical knowledge you have accumulated even though you never officially studied the subject, is simply astonishing Tony.

Repairmen, like you, are one of the most important vertebrae in the backbone of society.

a lot of work went into this explaination, I understood what you tried to say but you had no good script prepared, but improvisation is king

You can install analog/digital ammeter on the PSU cables that goes to the graphic card.
