After Megamind 2 and Kung Fu Panda 4, DreamWorks Animation is teasing their upcoming movie The Wild Robot! The Wild Robot looks like a beautiful story about a robot exploring a remote island and finding unlikely companionship, in an animation style reminiscent of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Is this the next DreamWorks masterpiece?

This is where Megamind 2's budget went
  • It looks phenomenal so far. Also people forget that DreamWorks isn't a consistently good animated studio. Shrek 2 and Shark Tale released in the same year... enough said.

Dreamworks is the very definition of a mixed bag. This the studio that gave us Shrek 1 and 2, but this is also the studio that gave us Shrek the Third. This is the studio that gave us Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, but this is also the studio that gave us 2 The Boss Baby movies. This is the studio that gave us Trolls, but this is also the studio that gave us the following two Trolls movies. It’s really hard to tell when Dreamworks actually plans on trying, but it seems Dreamworks is giving it their all for this one.
  • Friendly reminder: For those who don't know there's actually Two Dreamworks. One Being DreamWorks. And the other is DreamWorks Animation Television and the other is responsible for the horrible Megamind sequel.
  • Roz is like the long lost daughter of Wall-E and Eve. I'm already loving her character.

1:22 "It feels straight out of a story book." That's because it literally is.
  • @gamebuster4844
It starring Mark Hamil and Pedro Pascal plus being written and directed by the guys that Lilo and Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon, makes this movie have a hopefully good direction moving forward.

You can tell when Dreamworks is actually passionate about something and not just meeting a quota. They can really tell they put their whole heart and soul into this.

I'm surprised you didn't mention this is supposed to be DreamWorks' last in house animated movie. They're outsourcing their films after this one

I Smell A Redemption Arc! (Meaning I Hope They Finally Retire Trolls And The Boss Baby Soon)
  • The way I see it, this movie is very similar to wall E. A movie with a robot protagonist that shows without telling.

Bro, you know a movie is good when the trailer already almost makes you cry

The fact that I read this book for an assignment in grade 8 (ended up loving it and its one of my favorite books now) actually makes me so happy because the storytelling in it was beautifully

The Wild Robot is DEFINITELY getting my support. It looks amazing.

As a fan of this book series growing up as a kid, words do not describe how excited I am to see it with a well renounced animation team behind it as well as such passion, time, and effort put into the quality.

The animation looks really good. This looks similar to The Bad Guys.
  • @Jonathan_Collins
The Wild Robot was actually a best-selling book before DreamWorks decided to adapt it. I read the book a few years ago and it is phenomenal.
