  • Imagine the Ultramarines working alongside the Imperial fist. Ultramarine: Isnt it a little bit risky turning hive gang members into battle brothers? Imperial fist: What do you mean risky? It's woking fine. Look at brother Jimmy, used to be a gang boss who bash people heads whith a baseball bat. Now he's a loyal marine who wack heretics in the heads with his power hammer for the emperor. Ultramarines: that's my point. He may one day disregard civilian life Imperial fist: look, we almost get wiped out once so we cant be choosy. Also, we are directly responsible to protect Holy terra. You want it getting protected or not? And dont tell me you havent accidently shoot some civies on one or two occasion.
  • Imagine you start to unionise at your scriptorum job but then you hear a monotone, heavy voice behind you say " For the emperor, for Dorn" and a bunch of clangs of bolters loading simultaneously

"The Carrot - so to speak - had been proffered, and since it was rebuffed... Now would come the Stick." Nice.

Oculus, thank you. Thank you for your consistent effort to produce high quality lore. Your soothing voice and Oculus character are a regular escape from my hectic day. Your videos help me escape my mental health and allow me to focus on my imagination. I’m literally a better scientist because of the relaxation your content brings to my life. Thank you.

"Starch Allowance". That is a stellar phrase.
  • @Vividmoney97
“And now would come the stick.” That’s a light way to put the Astartes showing up to kick your teeth in.

I feel the very best thing about Occulus' videos is the use of plausible 41 st millenium idioms; "worth one's starch rations" from this video is a great example, but I also find myself rolling my eyes now whenever anyone in a sci-fi setting uses "area" or "region" when they should, and more importantly would, say "volume."

17:35 "Several of the hive cities were subjected to formal decimation" I love that term "formal decimation" really puts into perspective of the universe that 40k inhabits. The destruction, nah!! the decimation of hive cities are just everyday occurrences like the firing of an employee in our universe.
  • In the face of despair comes a voice from the darkness — sometimes it tells of even greater doom just lingering on the edges of our perception, but always, this voice reminds us that forever will humanity be there, crying out. Until the darkness takes us all.

I like the old Necromunda art. The fun stories in Necromunda are always those on the lowest level. What you remember from play is how Skab and Leotunda from your gang took down four dudes from another gang or how awful it was when the badass fencer Gundrunn was lost in a cave-in.

In these difficult times, it is a great comfort to have content like this to escape into. Thanks Oculus.

This when class hours are over and the professor pulls out a cig and says, “anyone wanna know how I learned about the structural threshold of a human forearm?”
  • @charliemay3804
“They executed anyone with illegal genes” Inquisition: outstanding move.

7:23, not an stick..... But an Imperial Fisting! I just had to say it, fits like a pain glove...

I really like this one. I have generally ignored Necromunda lore and info because I assumed it was a little goofy for 40K from the images, but damn I was so wrong. It’s as grim dark as the rest of the universe. Thanks for such a great video and as always I have to say your format role playing as a historian clearly indoctrinated into the imperium puts you in my top 5 40K channels. This is such good work I’m gonna have to support you on Patrion.
