Trying To Make Sense Of The Percy Jackson Timeline | A Riordanverse Reading Guide

With the announcement of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Chalice of the Gods, I figured I'd toss together a timeline video for new and returning readers!
A few important notes!
I deliberately excluded The Ultimate Guide to Percy Jackson- it has lots of fun supplemental info, but no stories that take place anywhere in the canon timeline, plus the old art gives me heebie jeebies
I also left out Demigods of Olympus - this is an app with some of the short stories referenced in the video already, as well as 4 choose-your-own adventure stories that aren’t canon
The PJO/Kane crossovers can all be read in a single novella bindup called Demigods and Magicians, and if you’re going to read all three together, I’d place it where I put The Crown of Ptolemy, post-BoO
Since The Sun and the Star and the Chalice of the Gods are still unreleased, I can only make educated guesses and speak on what Rick has said for them timeline-wise, but for the rest of the books here, I’ve read and used my best memory recall to place them in an order that makes the most sense. The series is full of (often intentional) anachronisms, so me poking fun at Percy’s age and the “canon” timeline isn’t serious, it’s all in good fun.

I officially propose a petition stating that if Rick Riordan writes yet ANOTHER Percy Jackson book, it better be about Percy and Annabeth going to therapy and trying to adjust to a normal college life

Percy's not actually seventeen in the Heroes of Olympus. A lot of people seem to think he is, but he's not. Annabeth turns seventeen in the House of Hades, but Percy's birthday is on August 18th, and the Blood of Olympus finishes only a couple days after August 1st

Yes. Yes. Yes. One of my favorite things about this universe is that it has brought different parts of my family together. My adopted cousin, my brother in law, an uncle from a different side of the family, and another brother in law’s sister and I can all get together and geek out in this series! Now that my nephew is finally showing interest, this is my reference video when they are ready to dig in.

I would like to point out though that Son of Sobek and Staff of Serapis happened after the events of The Blood of Olympus aka the entire series of the Heroes of Olympus. I say that because during their battle Percy mentioned the Doors of Death asking Carter if he's an escape spirit. Which, he would've only asked if he already finished dealing with it.

You have made this so much easier for me to understand, thank you. Percy Jackson has been something I've always wanted to delve into but never truly had the motivation, but recently I have had a bunch of Nico Di Angelo stuff pop up on my streaming apps, and now I have the motivation to read it all. I always go full in and don't stop half way, so I am excited to start but was super overwhelmed. You helped simplify it and keep my head straight as I watched. Again, thanks for the video, I can't wait to get the books and start reading.

My first thought when I saw Rick's announcement for the Chalice of the Gods was "Dear Lord PLEASE just let this boy rest!" Also going off the fact that Rick has said that Percy was 12 in 2005 (meaning he was born in 1993 asdfghjkl) since that's when the first book came out (in one of his super old interviews I have no idea if you can still find it anywhere) that means that his Christmas story has Percy as A 27 YEAR OLD. PERCY SHOULD BE 27. NICO SHOULD BE 23. AGHHHHHHHH
