If you don’t have golems / iron, a pack of wolves works really gr8. I can beat raids without full iron armor if I have a pack of 10+ wolves and a stack of meat to keep em fed and bred. If you don’t have armor, use a bow + wolves combo to kill the evoker mages that drop the totems. Those MF’s are strong and can one shot you with full iron armor.

Thank you for always mentioning the differences between bedrock and Java

Extra info: Vindicators can also break wood doors (with their axes).

At first I thought Totems were rare. Now, after abusing the mechanics using a raid farm I don't even know what to do with them anymore.

Something that wasn't mentioned here: A wall made of cacti or sweet berry bushes ideally combined with fences or stone walls surrounding the village makes it drastically easier to fight the raids.

Woah! I've been playing Minecraft for over ten years now, and I never knew you could heal iron golems using iron ingots. That's awesome! ^-^

When we find a village, we lock all the villagers inside the houses and build a fence around the village. If the fenced in area is small enough, raids will form outside the village fence and it is much easier to defeat the raids from inside the fence. The villagers won't wander off and iron golems usually stay inside the fence. Light up the area inside the fence and mobs won't spawn either. If you find a villager with a really good trade, fence in their house so you always know where to find them.

A lava bucket is another effective method for dealing with Ravagers. It slows them down and makes them very easy to shoot with a bow on top of lava damage, provided you don’t need/want the Saddle that drops.
  • Fun fact: Ravagers have a special attack called stunning, on which the ravager gets stunned for a couple of secs, then it roars and knocks the player quite far away. And according to SimplySarc, the ravager attack if tackled with a shield, you can use some pretty neat tricks to launch yourself even 1000s of blocks with that knock back!

It's too bad Vindicators named "Johnny" have limited hostilities. I'd love to just run around during a raid tagging Vindicators and watching them slaughter their own dudes lol

Fun fact: A sharpness 5 netherite axe crit with strength 2 is just enough to kill pillagers, vindicators, witches and evokers in one hit, as they all have 12 hearts of health.
  • I actually defeated a raid while on horseback. It's much more easier to evade and dodge arrow attacks. It can also outrun a ravager. Just make sure you pick the horse that has the fastest run speed

Slight elaboration: “a raid is triggered when [the player makes the killing blow on a] raid captain.” If one of the other raiders shoots the captain and kills them, it will not trigger the “bad omen” status effect. (At least not a Java, unknown on Bedrock).
  • Another fun defensive strategy is making dense areas of bamboo in the areas where they're most likely to come. They tend to get stuck in the bamboo and easy to pick off and it slows them down. And as a bonus the bamboo looks nice too

Pro tip for the Ravengers Crossbow with Quick draw 3 and Multishot firing slowness(0;11) works amazing to control them and also for basic riot control. Slowness 4(0;02) arrows work well with Piercing crossbows too and that's my general purpose carry bow.

I hate the fireworks effect after the raid, because if you have them trapped theyll set off fireworks indoors and kill themselves
  • Biggest issue i have with raids is collecting all the loot. As for fighting them just walk away when the raid is due and they'll definitely spawn behind you. Then reach for your bow.

Thanks for this, I need alternative methods since my nether portal trap failed recently due to lag. (Yes I keep a stash of obsidian to build huge portals to banish incoming pillagers)

Excellent video. While I do love raids, I'll never understand the extremely short duration of Hero of the Village. I feel like it should be more like 15-20 ingame days rather than around 2. Still, it's a fun experience and the totems of undying make it worth it.
