What's your favorite part of this one!?
  • The 2012 sewer lair is still the definitive version imo as it’s a mix of them all, but this one is pretty good as well.
  • @wilfred9
I’m hyped for this one seeing I have almost all of the figures from this line. Though with the rereleases of the original figures and vehicles, I wanna see them bring back the OG sewer lair and the Technodrome.

Thoughts about the plastic: 1. Plastic for a lot of toys does seem lighter and more flexible which can be good for assembly but bad for holding together 2. Saves on shipping cost being lighter 3. Plastic now is more likely to have recycled elements 4. Might be different to lower production cost. A Snake Mountain it might not be but might still be fun!

Playsets once so many and now so rare. Great review there Pixel Dan, bring up and going into all the little things. A lot of people appreciate a reviews like yours.
  • @emerje0
This really does look like a lot of fun and I agree with how awkward the cardboard backdrop looks with all the villains on it. Sometimes designers get a little too into their own heads about what a toy should look like on its own and not enough about how it'll actually look when played with. But I just got Origins Snake Mountain in the mail and there's that poll for the new MOTU crowdfund so I'm in a playset kind of mood right now, this still looks like a lot of fun!

For the zip line just wrap the string around the subway light pole a couple more times to make the line more taut. The ooze ball looks like it would sit in the funnel perfectly so you could fill it with ooze then put it upside down on the funnel to let it flow.

  • @antoniusyoutube
I just watched 14 of your latest videos, give or take, and I enjoy your videos every time. Thanks for everything you do, Dan.

I'm picking nits right with you on that cardboard backdrop. It does ruin the pretend play a bit to have a static image of Superfly and others on there and then add the figures to it, even though the artwork is really nice. Would be really awesome if they made the backdrop two-sided or enclosed alternates or something. Or maybe some static stickers of them so I can modify the background on my own without damaging anything.

Finally! I've been waiting for you to review the sewer lair for a while now! Another great video as usual, Dan! Also, the tabs on the subway station are to move it closer in to the sewer lair. There are holes in the gym area by the ooze pipe, and it can peg in there.

Couple things. 1. With The Ooze ball the idea is to leave the stopper off and the ooze is the. Supposed to ooze out onto the villians after being rolled down the tracks (I havent been able to get it too ooze out in that fashion but thats the idea. 2. The Subway folds up and slots i to the grooves of lowered section next to the ooze pipe. 3. On the Portaloo theres pegs for the baby turtles, I assume this is so that ooze can be dumpped and ooze down the grates. While I agree there are a number of play features that just dont work as it should, this is a fantastic set and has become a centre piece to my collections. I absolutely love this line and despite being aimed for kids is something Ive loved collecting.

Thanks Pixel Dan for this great review and sharing with us this awesome playset, I'm not a 100% TMNT fan but i like it specially the vintage ones, blessings! 🤘
  • @mattsmith2515
Another great video Dan thank you! 😃 I have this is in a box still to open with all the figures too. Might take a while to setup by the looks of it! 😄
  • @VoltageApollo
i remember when i was a kid watching your 2012 TMNT videos and playing with those figures. Now seeing the next new era of TMNT is kinda weird i miss being a kid.
  • @MrChristopoop
I am probably a touch older than Dan, I was hitting 7th/8th grade when turtles were hitting the cartoon world, so I am used to the large playsets of the couple years prior to TMNT toy releases back in the day. That being said, even though I don’t collect this line, I think this is awesome that a playset of this magnitude was made for action figures, shortcomings he pointed out and all. It was cool to make your own environments and works for your toys, but damned if I didn’t love playsets like GI HQ, the battle platform, Star Wars Death Star and all of the Hoth sets, even the Panosh Voltron castle, He Man and Skeletor lairs, etc. this takes me back to that time, when on a crappy weather day, or even a nice one and you could bring it outside, you can immerse yourself in the “world” of your figures. I loved that as a kid.
  • @brainlock72
I think I have the 2012 set? It was on post-holiday clearance at Walmart a few years later, I believe? It was after I moved in 2015. I saw this one the other day, probably at Target? It barely registered other than, “oh, that’s out? Neat.” And I didn’t look at it further. This one, I agree the added mutants detracts from the setting, and without them it could be a great generic setting for a variety of lines. Or general ACBA fun. I’m sure a few decent artists could paint over the mutants, or create a new backdrop instead? I can already see the porta-potty getting painted blue, and a Superman checking out the phone booth. 😂 I might give this a second chance. IF I had any room, anymore. 😭
  • Great review, P Danny. I'll leave my boxed for a while until I can figure out where all these playsets are gonna go...
  • @makumusik
I hear you can connect the vintage one with this new one through the green pipes, the exact way you show on 20:55, just connect the pipe to the hole behind that ladder on the new one
