Calmira was very cool. Windows 95 didn't run very well on my 486SX but Windows 3.11 did and Calmira made it much more usable.

Slick looking UI! Before Calmira existed, I used a Win 3.x shell program called Sparta. I loved it so much that it was the first piece of shareware I registered. The registered version came on a floppy from Iceland (I think) and I still have the holographic postage stamp the letter used.

This might be a good theme to have as an alternative on Windows 10/11

Calmira LNF have ability to customize all the icons and it adds X putton to all explorer windows. But if you plan do use MASK98 with it it messes the the maximize minimize and X buttons for the Explorer.

I really like your content. Most of the things in your videos are my childhood, so the nostalgia is amazing.

Today you might think the otherway. W11/10 less desirable revert to W7/8 Openshell reverse time back to ? Some still want to go back to W3.x era with custom Dos rompt Norton ofr Pc Shell did similair job ! OSl2 another relic of time !

Calmira is great. I've used it on and off for years on my retro machines. I really wish I could convert the source code to C or C++ to make it a bit faster and to fix a few noticeable bugs such as the Start Menu not automatically populating newly installed Windows 3.1x applications.

Nice. Now the other way round, Win95, 98 or NT4 (or even up to XP) with Program Manager as the shell ;)... And yes, it's possible ;)... Oh and back in the day I DID use a replacement shell on Windowx 3.1x, but I used "Norton Desktop for Windows 3.0". But I recall a friend of mine using an earlier version of Calmira before WIn95 became out, but that wasn't using the Win95 shell yet , I think it looked more like notebooks or something.

Did you make sure to install a printer driver? It might not seem to make any sense, but TrueType fonts won't be available or usable, even in the GUI, if you don't have a printer driver installed. The Epson FX 80 printer driver is about the smallest TrueType capable printer driver that comes with Windows 3.11. And no you don't actually have to have a printer connected to install a driver.
