You do realize that X-men first class is a prequel and going mostly by the 1960's comic story line. Also not everything happen until 2000, also do realize the comic book has around since 1960's.

i personaly hated first class it had so many things wrong with it, like magneto and professor x were friends until x-men (2000), magneto didnt get the helmet until x-men (2000), beast wasnt blue until x-men last stand (take a look at x-men 2 you'll see him on a tv being interveiwed and he'll be white) emma frost was an x-men and close friend of professor x and professor x could walk until x-men (2000)

first thing look up the publication date also every several years all the comic book companies reboot and look for new writers. Also think you heard wrong he meant 1962 the idea was pitched in 1961.

nice try but X-men was first published in 1963, the reason why i brought that point up in your comment it sounds like nothing happen until 2000. I know lot the things in the movie were different but that was to speed things up also used elements from the first 20 years of X-men universe.
