Since you're already started down the Polyphia rabbit hole then you really can't go wrong with anything off their New Levels New Devils album, but my personal suggestion next would be Yas as it's another banger track off the album that sounds quite a bit different from G.O.A.T. and O.D. Past that, I'd actually work backwards through their catalog and appreciate how their music has changed over time to first hitting up songs from The Most Hated EP like Goose and 40z and eventually working back to an older hit song of theirs called Champagne. The difference from Champagne to Playing God is quite incredible IMO.

Ed, I’m not really sure, but I think you like this band.😂 OMG they are magnificent! I completely understand your attraction. Just the fact that you can get two guitarists who can play with that much gusto and prowess, and do it in perfect timing with each other, is amazing. Add to that now an insanely syncopated drummer who can impossibly mimic the speed and timing structure that the guitarists set, and it’s a really tasty treat for a music lover’s ears for sure.

There are no different time signatures, it's all 4/4, though sometimes it may sound like something else because they will accentuate different beats in consecutive measures, like in the second run of G.O.A.T'.'s intro riff, which Tim called a happy mistake. In that sense, Polyphia are not strictly definable as a math rock band. They are really a new genre, connecting trap beats with simple earworm melodies filled with highly technical intricacies. The underlying melody line keeps all those notes as a cohesive pleasant song, not totally unlike what Bach and Vivaldi did in classical music. Maybe we can call it Baroque Trap Metal! :) Also, Tim has a really nice explanation of how he came up with O.D. here: https://youtu.be/MZ4QN2uFif8

Look up The Worst and Goose. Different vibes.. a bit more melodic forward, but just as impressive. Seriously amazing
  • Wow I never heard or heard of these guys. What amazing and thought provoking music thanks for the introduction 👍😎

I love this band. I'll be seeing them for the 4th time later this month in New Orleans. It's been a privilege to watch them progress over the years. They truly are musical pioneers of the modern guitar era.

Clay aeschilman (probably spelled incorrectly;drummer) has playthroughs with meinl cymbals. The production quality and mixing of his video with them for this song is insane, and it really showed how great his drumming was for this song. I’m not even a drummer but I frequent that video a lot, a reaction would be great 👍🏽.

I highly recommend listening to their full albums in intended order. It's a whole musical journey that carries on beyond the boundaries of the songs.

You definitely gotta check out Yas, 40oz, Goose, and Look But Don't Touch. Their New Levels New Devils and The Most Hated albums are just legendary. And believe it or not but all of their songs are actually in 4/4 time signature.

Check out blood moon, Tim’s part in the biggest shred collab and Tim Henson’s effects commercial all great examples of what he can do musically outside of polyphia as well!
