Tool-assisted superplay [TAS] of Mach Breakers: Numan Athletics 2 (arcade) (1 player)

Notes:
-What is a TAS? youtube.com/c/Prog61/about

-For some event, I found better score than I did, this is because each characters are a bit different. I will do a 4 players TAS so we can see which characters is better at which event.
-For some events, if you play with an auto fire at 60 bps you cannot reach the best score. I will point that out in the description for the events.

-All the timing information I specify from here on, may be different with a different character.

==Maximum Speed==
-You get the best result at 20 bps (60 bps is slower)

==Monster Drag==
-This is clearly not the best character for this event. After the first pull I get only 4.88 but I know that some other characters can do 5.42 each pull.
-You can trigger the pull 2 frames before the meter is full and get the same distance
-The 1st try I pull at the last frame, when the meter is completely full
-The 2nd try I pull on the earliest frame I can.

==Ice Crusher==
-60 bps gets you the fastest time.
-I did not saw a difference between having a 'NICE' or not. (I will have to investigate that)

==Hyper Glider==
-20 bps is needed to fill the meter and keep the speed when flying.
-You have to get the 'NICE' 100% to get the best distance, but this is a 1 frame only window and the last frame before faulting.

==Beast Hole==
-The game seem to give up when you reached 20000 points. Even if there were 6 seconds left, the game was no longer sending enemies.

==Future Gate==
-You can spot cheaters because the timer is already at 0.06 when the first pixel of the target is visible. So, it is impossible to get a 0.00, except for a TAS or by using Save State.
-If you are fast enough, it is possible to top the score at 99999. You get the maximum score (7650) by getting 0.21 or lower. You have 7 frames (near 0.14 sec) to do that.
-The TAS can shoot very early. The game allow you to shoot a target 12 frames before it appears.
-Scoring: (Some numbers are missing because they are not possible because 1 frame = 0.01666 second)
0 to 0.21 = 7650 points (0 or -12 frames)
0.23 to 0.28 = 5000 points
0.30 = 3000 points
0.31 = 2500 points
0.33 = 2250 points
0.35 = 2100 points
0.36 = 2000 points
0.40 = 1800 points
0.41 = 1750 points
0.43 to 0.45 = 1500 points
0.46 to 0.48 = 1250 points
0.50 to 0.53 = 1000 points
0.55 = 765 points
0.58 to 0.63 = 500 points
0.65 to 0.73 = 300 points
0.75 to 0.86 = 250 points
0.88 to 1.16 = 100 points
1.17+ = 0 points

==Bomb's Away==
-In order to fill the meter, you must get the 'NICE' which is a 1 frame window.
-With a full meter, the angle to get is near 45 but you can be off by a few degrees
-20 bps is needed to fill the meter
-I think the game maximum distance is 7168.1 because I tried a few different angles and always got this distance.

==Super Stunt==
-The window to get the 'NICE' is 2 frames. The last 2 frames before faulting.
-When running, you need to tap at 20 bps. (270-280 km/h)
-After jumping, from 5 to 60 bps seem to change nothing.

==Deep Diver==
-When going down, you have to tap the button when the character has finish his movement, arms in front of him
-At first there is 22 frames between strokes, but after about 10 stroke you slow down to 26 frames by strokes
-When going up, you go faster at 20 bps
-I am not sure why I got a better distance the 2nd try.
-I saw 730.1 on another video, but I think this 730m is not possible on the world version, on that video you can see that the game require 630m to qualify but in the world version it's 610m.

==Rapid Jump==
-To have the best jump you have a window of 2 frames, you know you got it when you have a multiple shadow
-On the 1st try I jump on the first frame possible. I wanted to get over 99 seconds because it return to 0 and we may had seen the same bug than in Track & Field, but the level is too short :(
-On the 2nd try I jump on the first frame with max power, when the character glow pink.

==Block Buster==
-20 bps is needed to fill the power meter the fastest
-The meter do not have to be filled to the max.
-It's fun to see the last few blocks entering the screen too late, but it did not slow the TAS down.

==Ground Spike==
-60 bps is the best when going down
-The 'NICE' 120% has a window of 1 frame. 1 frame late you get 93%, 1 frame too soon you get 95%
-The window to not fail is of 53 frames

==Short Race==
-You get 5:20 if you tap at 60 bps or 20 bps

-Sorry, I had to mute the sound during the credits due to copyright issues.

    I love how one game is about throwing what appear to be nuclear missiles into another city.
  • @miketate3445
    Holy crap this game. Nonsense this pure is a true rarity. Nonsense this pure crafted with maximum effort and skill might just be limited to this game alone. 90's arcades were a blessing.
  • @ichemnutcracker
    My favorite part when was she shouts "why?! why?! why?!" when the TAS deliberately faults her in the ski-jump, like she was betrayed or something.
  • @lamptrent
    my goodness this game is polished! every minigame has so much unique art that all looks great... more games should be made like this!!
  • @ReifinDFanchon
    Man, this game is such a gold. Love every second playing it with my homies, and every broken finger along the way.
  • @entropy-cat
    Damn, thirteen world records in a row. You're going to be a massive legend.
  • I've watched literally one and a half minutes of this...and it's already one of the greatest games I've ever seen πŸ˜…
  • @Striderskunk
    I've been wanting a TAS of Numan Athletics and Mach Breakers for at least 20 damn years since I've seen this in the arcade lol, thanks for finally uploading it.
  • @WattSCar7597
    Omg. Thank you so much. Your video suddenly showed up in my recommendations. I've been searching for the name of this game for years. I've tried "pull godzilla olympics destroy building" for decades. My inner child is so happy right now.

    "Now that you know all the events.. You can do even better next time!" TAS: How dare you- Do you know how optimized this was!? /s
  • @somebnnuy
    I think Whirlwind lives up to her name pretty well, because every time I see her a whirlwind of neurons activate.
  • @flewis02
    I miss the 90s Arcade days, if I knew they were gonna end I would have went more often, but I was a kid so not much I could do
  • @RafunkV
    Lot's of nice art and animation in this game, never seen it before, happy I could watch this
  • @juanO64yoshi
    Those are some beefy leg muscles in her running animation. Double cheeked up for the tournament as well.
  • @etansivad
    Holy crap, the name of the game is "Mach Breakers"? I remember this title being in the local arcade for years. I could not remember the title of it, but remembered it was a bit like Track and Field, but with superheros. Really cool to see the actual game again after decades.
  • @Damian_1989
    I love that after crashing with her, the stuntman still does a thumbs up
  • @cleangoblin2021

    This game is presented excellently! I’m mad I’ve never run into this game in the wild back in the day.
