  • In booktub community, I hardly find anyone that actually reads something beside young adult or fantasy. But today I accidentally clicked on your video and I'm shocked how much your taste in books is similar to me. So delighted to find you! I absolutely adored your video. Good luck❤
  • Fairly new to this book tube malarkey and finding my way around. I hope you get some great reads this year. Best wishes.

A similar memoir I just read is Chanel Bonfire by Wendy Lawless about her and her sister growing up with an abusive debutante mother and actor father. So good!!

Ooh for your next Murakami I would suggest the Wild Sheep Chase -- that one was my first, and it really drew me in with its mysteries, the quiet yet fascinating interior landscape of the main character and his quest, all the little nuance details of the settings he finds himself in. When I read Sputnik Sweetheart last year, I loved it for a lot of the same reasons, though I think the prose in Sputnik might be a little more beautiful/poetic.

Great list! I do really enjoy your aesthetic with the black (dark background with a lamp). We def have the same great taste of both modern lit with a great underrated classic or two.

The Blind Owl made it to my favorites of 2023. I almost never recommend it to anyone because I feel it is truly a book that is not for everyone. Murakami - for a long time (in my 20s and early 30s) he was my favorite author. I have read all of his novels and most of his short stories. He will always hold a special place in my heart but for some reason I have no desire to re read any of his books. He did more for me in my 20's than now (in my 50s). I don't want to lose the love I had for his books and I feel like if re read them now all the talk of boners and boobs would get old lol. Hearing you speak of Princess of Cleves makes me want to read it. Have you read Dangerous Liaisons? It is so full of French drama. I feel like Cleves has a similar vibe in the way you describe it.

I added so many of these to my TBR on Goodreads! They all sound so interesting!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your books. Love the variety and quirkiness of your reads

Great video! I'm half way through Ali Smith's "Seasonal Quartet" and I'm really enjoying it. At first, her writing scared me off. I thought I wasn't smart enough to read it, but I persisted and I'm so glad that I did! When I finish the series, I will definitely be picking up "How To Be Both." Happy Reading! 😎📚👍

I’m so looking forward to your next vlog! I’ve read The Blind Owl twice, I really like it but I definitely haven’t entirely wrapped my mind around it.

Loved hearing your thoughts! After Dark by Haruki Murakami sounds interesting. I've never read any Murakami, so maybe I could start with this one? It sounds like something I would like, as I enjoy multiple perspectives. Although maybe I should opt for one with more weirdness haha. Happy reading 😊

Murakami writes rocks with more respect than he does women. Needs a diaper change
