The packing of the library is always the incredibly humbling moment of realising you do have too many books but you're not willing to get rid of them 😂

The best packing tip I've been using for years, especially for books, is to use trash bags on the inside of my boxes. I then pack up my box full, close the bag, close to the box, and the contents stay secure, especially from water damage. Hope that helps anyone. ❤ Edited for spelling.

Lego is best transported wrapped securely in cling film. Wrap it over and over and no piece will get lost. Minor pieces falling of can be repaired quickly whilst unpacking.

Gav, you had better get that security deposit back. The landlord reneged on all of his duties. That wall crumbling is definitely because of that leak. The blue tack stains do not qualify for him to keep your deposit. Normal wear and tear is not what the deposit covers. Unless your cats were pissing on everything get your money back.

if you have any blu tack left, you can use it to removed the bits stuck to the wall. the old stuff will stick to the new piece

Watching you put all those books into boxes was very satisfying for some reason, but I'm so stressed about the lack of tape on the bottoms of the boxes! I don't want them all to fall out on your feet Gav!

When I moved and had to pack my books, it was so fun unpacking them because I didn't label my boxes, so it was a little surprise each time I unpacked them and put them on my shelves, I loved it.

I'm all for being discerning with shelving space but I don't think you need to feel "disgusted" by the amount of books you own. You constantly go through and weed out the stuff that isn't bringing you joy so I trust that what remains is really what you want when you go looking for your next read. I've been there moving a large number of books before (my library is somewhere in the 1.5 - 2K range) and I came to realize it wasn't my books that made me frustrated, it was the moving process itself. As sucky as the packing and moving is, I found that the joy comes flooding back when it's time to design the new library space and I can't wait to see what you create next. P.S.- PLEASE be careful with those boxes! I know I'm not the only one worried you didn't tape the bottoms and the weight of the books can pull them open.

You should keep the black shelve pieces and put them up in your new place; just need to buy brackets 😃 Buying shelves and/or wood can get super pricey but brackets are cheap! I did this in my lounge as I had a large area to fill so I used 2 ends of my old ikea wooden bed as shelves and a side of an old bookcase as a large shelf in the centre. I just filled any screw holes with wood filler and painted them. They look amazing and you’d never know! Saved me a fortune and always fab when you can reuse/recycle 😁

Moving out of home for Uni was one thing but nothing made me get rid of 90% of my things faster than moving from my own home to my own home as an adult, god damn all the 'stuff' really adds up especially books/manga/video games/collectables, it takes up so much weight and space and I'm never touching the vast majority of it past the first time
