  • Windows XP and Windows 7 are legendary in Microsoft Windows' history. I miss my childhood on the former. It's the longest support for Windows XP in 13 years.
  • Windows 1.0 - the beginning Windows 95 - the world changer Windows XP - the nostalgia Windows 7 - the best Windows 8 - the worst Windows 8.1 - the underrated Windows 9 - the non existent Windows 10 - the most advanced

XP is still so refreshing. It feels like going for a nature walk.

Windows XP was my childhood. Ah the 3D pinball game.
  • In my opinion, Windows XP was the most successful. I had it since I was 12 and grew up with it the longest. It broke when I was 25. My older brother had Vista and when that broke, he bought a Windows 7 laptop.
  • My first was Windows 95. THE MEMORIES. Wow. The freaking memories.. We had that thing all the way into 2006 or something. It was mostly mine because I used it the most, but of course it was mom who owned it. The next one we got was Windows XP, on an HP computer.

The biggest shift I remember was Windows 95. We had 3.11 at home, but I remember we got a new PC at school running on Windows 95. The fold-out start menu and the task bar, as opposed to the menu being at the top of the screen, was a major shift in the interface and one still used a quarter of a century later. There was that brief moment in Windows 8 where they removed the Start button to make a more app-based, smart device-friendly interface. This was so hated by users, that Windows 8.1 quickly followed, its main 'raison d'etre' being that the start button was back. Some things are perfect the way they are. The Start menu was a great idea in 1995 and it's still a great idea 25 years later.

I'd love for a Youtube channel to make an entire playlist covering the evolution of Windows, with each version of Windows getting it's own entire video. All I can find on Youtube of Windows evolution is videos like this, that just show short, fast demonstrations of each version of Windows in one single video. I want some really in-depth stuff. Still a great video though and I appreciate the work put in to give us this video. Thanks!
