This clip is another exciting discovery from the crates here at TheMotionDevotion, i.e., dusty boxes of Betamax videotapes that were recorded from TV in the 1980s. The vivacious lady announcing the tune is Nia Peeples.

I love the respect she showed him by standing a little behind him rather than right next to him. A subtle thing but bespeaks the fact that K.D. Lang is a class act. Respect to both!
-
Anybody that would give a thumbs down on k d lang and Roy Orbison doesn't know much about talent.
-
I'm 85 years young, and I've heard all of the greats since the late 40's. This performance is perfect!
-
KD Lang has such a powerful voice, but she never tried to overpower the Great Roy . Beautiful and classy.
-
Roy's voice is amazing. KD's voice takes this song/duet to another level.
-
A better duet could not have occurred. This is classic and timeless. Roy and KD have amazingly clean, pure voices and throw in that KD emotion with that stoic Orbison charm. Da Bomb!
-
K.D. Lang has an incredible voice, who deserves more recognition, Roy has never shared one of his songs, and that makes me believe he knew her talent Love them both so much
-
2023 and I still love this song! That man was genius! Love his singing!!!
-
On stage he never moved , just sang, brought the house down.No fancy dancers and backing groups just THAT VOICE.
-
K D Lang is by far one of the best female vocalist in our time!!
-
I went to a small venue concert in Rhode Island to see k.d. shortly after we lost Roy . There wasnt a dry eye in the house including hers when she sang Crying.
-
KD’s singing Cring at Roy’s memorial service is one of the most beautiful performances in history. Phenomenal..
-
K.D. Lang has one of the most beautiful voices in the business. Sad that she never got the recognition she deserves.
-
For all the k.d. haters , Roy could have chosen any singer in the world to sing and HE CHOSE k.d. lang , the end , game set and match
-
Roy Orbison is an effortless, amazing talent. The pairing with KD Lang is absolutely perfect.
-
She is AWESOME! No matter how many times I watch it, her Hallelujah is 🤯!
-
I'm really lost as to why anyone would hate KD Lang. She and Roy are simply perfection in this video.

kd lang has a stunningly powerful, beautiful voice, and she's such a true artist that here she SUPPORTS rather than starring. For example, kd has about the best breath control in the business and easily could (and later did) sing the final 15-second phrase in one, but Orbison's breath control was never strong so throughout, she breathes perfectly with him. He leaves entry and exit matching entirely to her, and she watches him subtly to fit his phrasing to perfection. Her attitude is a mark of greatness which produced an amazing duet. His voice was still uniquely beautiful. How wonderful that we have this recording from Roy Orbison's last year on earth.

I've always loved this song. Never thought Roy Orbison got as much recognition for his talent as he deserved. This version of "Crying" is so beautiful. Thank you, K.D. What a beautiful duet. That is how it is done...just beautiful voices and no need for high wires, 50 dancers in bizarre costumes and flashing lights. What would I do without YouTube? Thank you.

One of the most moving songs ever written sung to perfection by two wonderful voices. What a precious grft.
