After collecting a lot of red envelopes/lai see/ red packets/ red pockets/ hong bao/ lucky envelopes, let's reuse them to make some really nice lucky fish lanterns to celebrate Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year.

Fish is a very auspicious symbol during Chinese New Year because the sound of fish means abundance/plentiful and extra, meaning that if you eat fish, you will have everything you need in abundance for the new year. This is why you see a lot of fish decorations during Lunar New Year. Why not make our own fish decorations to decorate the house with?

This fish lantern, will take 10 envelopes to make and will take about 30 mins of your time. We have the you can use glue, hot gun, tape, double sided tape and a stapler, and we found that the mini stapler was the easiest, though in my sample fish, I did use a bit of double sided tape as well for the hard to reach areas.
