"What It Means to Belong to the Right" by Julius Evola [Essay Study]

Published 2024-07-03
"What It Means to Belong to the Right" is an essay by Julius Evola published in 1973. The essay is one of several found in A Handbook for Right-Wing Youth, which is a compilation of Evola's essays assembled by Hungarian traditionalists. In this video we examine what Evola believed constituted an authentically Right-wing worldview.

I have discussed previously another essay from this same book. Link below:

Edit: Toward the end of the video I mistakenly referred to Evola's book "Fascism Viewed From the Right" as "A Critique of Fascism From the Right."
Mea Culpa!

I can see why Evola was critical of right-wing socialism. If it truly is the most naturally agreeable form of governance for the human condition, why did it not appear until the 20th century? Because it was a reaction to communism. Simple as. For what it’s worth, sometimes interventions are necessary. But I understand why people like Junger, Evola, criticize it.
