I'm not American but I remember growing up watching Obama and McCain, then Romney, debating on TV in the UK. They were almost always polite, if a little sarcastic at times, towards each other. The mud-slinging debacle of modern American politics is honestly such a shame considering the level of respect that used to be shown across the aisle even during heated disagreements. It's good to see someone like Giles call for a return to mature discourse.
