it's good to hear this is a good starting camera, as I bought one for $25 as I have really been looking to get in to photography.

The X and M lever is not the self timer it's the flash type selector X is electronic and M is for flash bulbs the self timer is the other lever on the top of the lens
  • Hi Shawnee, Great pictures and sharp color image with excellent contras the detail are very present to, i have seen pictures taken in b&w with the s2 on a blog, that camera is looking like a lieca image lens if not better for the price..Konica back in the 60's promote the s2 like this"the lens is a prime lens and we just throw in the body for free" lol!! from your image it seem to be true.   Tomorrow is the big day for me to receive my s2 from delivery postwomen $24 including shipping i was told by the seller on eBay that the Konica is in excellent condition so I'm glad:) ps.Also i bid on two other rangefinder and won...Minolta Hi-Matic 7s and Minolta AL-s with manual override/auto both for 50buck  just like the s2. Thanks for responding. Jean-Michel A.
  • Real nice video!!! I just purchase the s2 on eBay for a steal-but before that i did my reachers on rangefinders and purchase a Yeshiva GNS in perfect shape almost new/near mint great rangefinder but there is no manual override not shutter speed override but the lens is a f/1.7 the viewfinder is large you see everything...So this week a should have my new baby:) can't wait!!
  • Just picked up a very clean one for $12 .... The camera does NOT have a hot shoe ... must connect flash with a cord...
  • @garylee9738
That's not a hotshoe, it's just a place to slide a flash, if you try to activate a flash by just sliding it in it won't fire the flash. That's why you have the synch cord and socket. Hotshoe would be the flash support with the contact in the middle.

I got the s1.6 version, not much info about it other than it's similar to the s2 but with a different lens
  • @DiceyJJ
I have one but no clue how to use it!!

Thanks a lot...I’m sitting here with one in front of me and it does just exude quality. I notice that the filter fitting is 55 mm....of which I have a good range...so yeah. Thanks. I will use mine the way you use yours..all manual and remembering the newspaper photographers advice “f8 at a 60th and be there”

Does this camera work in manual mode without using battery? It seems like the shutter button is locked if the built-in lightmeter doesn't work.
