Dont Get Scammed from Misleading Gold sellers

Published 2024-05-13
This only applies to valuable specimens with possible gold you can’t see. Beware of Gold Specimen sellers that will not divulge the results of a specific gravity test. If a seller says there is gold shot through the quartz then ask them for the x ray results, or ask them to to do a continuity test on the piece in a video for you.( basically prove it) If you dont know how much gold is in a specimen unless its a museum type beauty, or a small piece, dont buy it.

I preach the use of the specific gravity test! Thank you!

You make a good point that I bet many people don't understand or have never thought about. I hope you don't mind if I add my 2 cents worth. Some knowlegable gold buyers and collectors are willing to pay a premium (more than the actual gold value) price for specimen gold. But, anyone buying gold as an investment should educate themselves about the nuances of gold weight and purity versus gold bullion (certified purity and weight) value versus specimen value (rare or artistic/jewelry grade gold), which is a lot harder to place a value on. Bottom line is: be careful about buying gold unless you know what you doing, or just like the piece(s) and can afford to never recover what you paid for it.

If some informations are not given by the seller is because they are really important for the buyer ;)
