I remember when Waze worked natively in the browser back in 2018. Supposedly Google disabled that functionality on their end. I'd love to get Waze back to show reported police locations but not upgrading the original Model3 just yet. Thank for showing us what it can do!

Looks like it works great but I wished Tesla would just make some sort of App Store to developers create their own programs for the car

Very clear and concise video review

Shame you didn't show how to set up and connect the device.

Hey Terry, just browsing YouTube, I somehow came up with your video. I don’t have this CarPlay box, but I think I have a solution to fix your problem. I didn’t want to pay for Tesla’s premium connectivity so I bought a small USB hub for the glove box (so I can still use sentry mode with the USB stick plugged in to it) a USB extension cord and a cheap 4G LTE modem stick that I ran up in the A pillar on the passenger side. My phone contract includes up to 10 Sim cards so I can share my data etc. My Tesla is set up to connect to the Wi-Fi of the 4G modem stick. So all I have to do is before I leave my house door is open the Tesla app (to wake the car up which will activate the USB ports when sentry mode is off) and close it again. By the time I get to the car and sit down the car is already connected to the Wi-Fi of the LTE stick. Maybe that could work for you?

Doing it on the browser is crap and hacky. Wish they could figure out a way without browser.

It’s pretty interesting mine connects to Bluetooth automatically when I enter my model X I just have to Flick on the WiFi. And everything runs smoothly What year Tesla do you have ? Maybe it’s a older model

This means that you can't use Tesla's navigation (with the smart charging stuff built-in), while Waze is running simultaneously in CarPlay, right?
-
Hi Terry, great video... Can you YouTube while driving or watch any video? Thanks
-
The main thing I want is to be able to use the steering wheel voice button to command Google assistant, as well as having regular Google maps navigation that integrates with the full self driving feature, so this won't be much better than having my phone connected via Bluetooth with a mount to keep it easily visible and accessible.

I think I’m gonna try this… I need Elon to get with the program (CarPlay)! 😆

I went an add on screen and not sold on it. Chose it because more responsive than the carlinkit. Is this any better than it? Either way may try one of these out.

Hi Terry great video as always. I’ve followed you since you helped with the SIRI shortcuts for my model S. Question … there is another company called Tlyard that has a similar device to the one you’re using. Have you seen any comparison between the two. I’m torn between the two devices at the moment Just wondering. Thank you again for doing this review as I keep seeing this one advertised on social media, but no one had done an actual review.

How can we enable the browser while driving? Doesn’t work in Australia

Question for you, if you're playing music through Pandora and want to use Tesla's built in navigation, are you able to minimize the browser and the music will keep playing?
-
Can i use mirror link with the this box ?
