  • When Iggy was asked if Jet stole his song, he said something along the lines of “yeah, probably? But I stole it from Motown, so whatever”
  • Not sure I'd say the Kelly Clarkson and Beyoncé songs were "very different." John Williams borrows from himself all the time and it sounds like that guy did, too.

As a metal lover, this quote hit a nerve in me "This genre is so samey" Oh like freaking autotune in pop everything?
  • King of a weird choice in the Paramore/Olivia Rodrigo comparison to use not only a live version of Misery Business, but probably one of her worst performances of that song where saying she was "pitchy" would be an understatement.

“Isn’t this a Motown beat? I don’t think either of these bands came up w this.” Love you for this. “Can’t Hurry Love” by the Supremes.
  • @assortedguts
It makes sense that 'This Means War' sounds like a Metallica song, though. The whole 'Hail to The King' album was basically a tribute to that era of metal.

13:22 can we talk about how both the songs on top of each other sound SO much better than either song individually? The e-flat major sounds warmer and more nostalgic than the e major for some reason and I just love the overall richness the layering provides

Join Good 4 U and Misery Business together in a mashup......In Good 4 U, Olivia sings about how torn up she is about a breakup and how fast the guy recovered; Misery Business is about Hailey Williams harboring a grudge against a popular girl who stole a boy she likes, and the vindictive pleasure she felt after stealing him back. The mashup combines the narratives into one, with Olivia filling the role of the popular girl who initially stole the boy, and Hailey filling the role as the emo girl who got him back, with their individual lyrics detailing their respective reactions to these events.

Joel still not able to pronounce Cheryl after all these years makes me happy!

Fun fact about the Nick Jonas song, Jason said this about it "I heard the song, and it was just a tremendous, tremendous horror of a tune. I noticed a few similarities in the melody, but it wasn't enough to pick up the phone and argue with somebody about it. If anything, I just wanted my $1.29 back that I spent on iTunes".

You know what you rarely hear about? Blues players suing other blues players for copying a chord progression
  • @ApexCris
I think the bridge and final chorus is the smoking gun for Olivia Rodrigo/Paramore. Once you hear that it becomes very clear that it's a "borrow the homework but change it a bit" situation. Still love both songs though.

Kelly Clarkson once performed Already Gone and in the middle of the song she started to sing Halo. She is unbelievable! ❤
  • @Maqueling
Nah that 'Editor, turn me into a monkey!' was wild 😭 00:07

This Means War is from Avenged Sevenfolds album Hail To The King. The entire album is a set of tracks meant to both mimic and honor the various bands that were inspiration for them as a group, so every song on the album is going have similar themes and sounds to other bands because that was literally the albums intended purpose. That said, it's a pretty solid album front to back.
  • @shionyr
When I first heard Good4U, I told my wife it sounded like Misery Business on Zoloft. Glad to see I'm not the only one who noticed the similarity.
  • @RoomieOfficial
Thanks to the Patrons who make these videos possible even with all the record label claims! If you see a comment from days ago when the video is new, that's them with their early access :)
  • @Rikrioss
Avenged's Hail to the King was a "tribute" album to Metallica, A7x do not hide that the songs are inspired by Metallica. Metallica are great friends with A7x and even invited them on a world tour WITH THAT album. Every time I see people comparing the songs I find it hilarious cause that's the whole point. It's a tribute to the King. thus . Hail to the King.
  • @robbiegarnz7732
Olivia was eager to credit Paramore because the latter was as such a big influence on her. Maybe Olivia didn’t technically have to but who can blame her? Plus Olivia is a stand up girl!
  • @MelodicQuest
It's funny how Lady Gaga got the last laugh as she was brought in for Top Gun: Maverick
