I've unlisted the original KQVI WR progression video so as not to confuse people, but here's the link if you really want to see it (for historical purposes):    • King's Quest VI WR Progression [Obsol...

Ah so happy to see this! Super well done, Shorty. It's so freaky to think I've done something that's worth a mini documentary about. <3 my KQ fam!
  • @WolfWalrus
Girl in the Tower blasting as Alexander just strolls off into the sky feels so triumphant, like the end to a film where Superman flies away after saving Metropolis.
  • @jonathanchan7896
48:40 Something about Alexander majestically walking away while ‘Girl in the Tower’ plays always cracks me up. 😂😂
  • i do hope that wherever UrQuan is, that they are doing alright, its really incredible how someone can enter a community, flip it on its head, and change lives before vanishing just as quickly as they appeared
  • @MahDryBread
Dude, I love all the interview footage! It's cool hearing about the history of the run from the perspectives of the runners themselves!
  • @ItsJabo
Dude the added in interviews makes me feel like I was actually there, like a member of the community. What a wholesome video
  • @TaranVH
Wow, one of the best speedrun videos I've ever seen. The interviews make it so much better than just narrating everything yourself. I know how much effort that must have taken, since I chose to use only narration from the speedruners themselves for my Barrier Skip video.

OneShortEye has done it again. Not only is this man an extremely skilled, top-level speedrunner... he's also a master of of piecing together, editing, and sharing the world of speedrunning's greatest untold stories. A must-see documentary for fans of speedrunning, Sierra games, point-and-clicks, and retro gaming in general. Brilliant work as always my friend. Thank you for including me! Edit: hope you all enjoy my spazzy sub-18 freakout KEKW

I think this is one of the best "niche hobby" documentaries I've ever seen, speedrunning or not. Extraordinarily well editted, directed, and told. Amazing interviews, great job telling a cohesive story that was easy to understand as someone who has never played any KQ games, yet still made me care about each runner's achievements (both within the game and outside of it) and each of the game's milestones. Absolutely masterful work. You and the KQ6 community should feel very proud of what you've done.

35:42 "It makes shaving off that second that much sweeter 'cause you know you're beating not just some other some other person, you're beating the best." Very nice

A compilation of Sluicebox's many amazing titles: ScummVM, SCI Engine Team Tile Puzzle Enthusiast Gnome Anthropologist SCI Turning Expert Catacombs Master

The Gnome Skip has got to be the funniest thing I've seen in a while, literally cried of laughter when I first saw it.
  • 48:40 There are no words to describe how beautiful this is. Just the way he walks towards the forest and then ascends into the air combined with the song, it's just amazing.
  • @ZorotheGallade
Shamir loving mint so much he doesn't even care you're not supposed to have that item and takes it anyway is just so fitting.
  • @morbid.curiosity
I found this channel while looking for Sierra videos, and I can not stop binging this. The editing is fantastic... how you took the maze scene and broke individual parts into animated items on screen just for that few seconds.. wow. True dedication. WELL DESERVED subscription from me!!
  • @CraftDayFriends
i like this recent trend of all these niche speedrunning communities doing these WR histories of their own games that they're really passionate about. there's something so special about all the people coming together to document their small part in it and just archiving it for the sake of it. i especially loved how this one doesn't have a singular narrator, everyone just kinda chirps in for their story, great job
  • @commode7x
Oh wow, that's alot of convention badges. Jackie is really a beacon of the community.
  • @Altercate
The King's Quest series meant a lot to me growing up. The first time I played KQ3, I didn't even know the K in "knife" is silent. I sat with a Swedish-English dictionary and looked up words as I went along. I learned English to try to survive these games, and it fostered a lifelong love of studying languages. When I finally got my very own computer, KQ6 was the first PC game I ever owned. All that aside, this was such a great video. Your script is amazing, the interviews were great, and you pulled it all together fantastically. You rock, and you really painted this community as a bunch of loveable human beings. Keep up the good work! :)

GIRL IN THE TOWER IS SPEED TECH, LETS GO edit: god damn it
  • @conzmoleman
Something I love about speedrunning is one that I also love about golf. Everyone is competing against each other, but... not really. They are really competing against the course. Or in this case, the game. And the field is always thrilled when one of their fellow players shatters the course record with a new low score, or a new WR time in a run.
